I never said the west should play world police anymore- I'm sick of that. What I want is the recognition of this genocide, perhaps a UN resolution, at the very least, to force Pakistan to comply.

I wouldn't count on the UN for that. The UN is notoriously unreliable. My favorite site to do with the UN, UNWatch, has this little gem:

@Pacificora: I wouldn't count on it. The UN still hasn't agreed on calling the Armenian GENOCIDE a genocide and that was about a hundred years ago.

Not on that scale yet, but if left unchecked, Pakistan will completely displace the Baluchis within their own homeland.

So your suggesting, that the west, most of the most powerful countries in the world, should sit and do nothing while innocent people are being killed? Being a bystander and doing nothing is nearly as bad as doing the horrible crime itself.

Well what do you suggest we do? Sanctions won't work, and military intervention there would be disastrous. So if you have any more ideas please, I'm all ears.

Hello, I'm an Australian who has no connection whatsoever to Baluchistan, but I do have considerable knowledge on it and have looked into the Baluch war for independence. And I believe, of course, that Baluchistan deserves independence, as, according to the Baluch's at least, they were meant to be given land as the British supposedly gave them autonomy before leaving the area, and that Pakistan illegally annexed it. This is not metioning the regions of Iran that are also considered Baluchistan.

Western powers need to pay attention to this issue, as genocide is a horrible thing. The killing of individuals based on their race or nationality is a war crime, and, while western powers sit idly, thousands of people's lives hang in the balance.

Glad to see at least one person not completely apathetic to the situation.

Both are correct, the two spellings are primarily due to the fact that va/wa (و) can represent both 'o' or 'u' (or 'w')

First of all, once the shock of not having their main western trade partners of the US and Germany wears off, they'll still be able to function just fine. Because the government is not going to be the ones feeling the pinch, it's going to be ordinary everyday Pakistanis. I can also imagine them turning to China and Russia, who I doubt would support any UN sanctions in the first place. So sanctions make things a little difficult for them, and more for their people, but if anything it will just get them riled up.

Hmm, that does make sense, you make a very good point. China definelty wouldn't support those sanctions...

Calling all Baloch's dirt poor peasants with no weapons, or war skills might be a bit presumptive. They have even fighting this struggle for over 60 years, I'm pretty sure they know what they are doing.

So, on our Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about how the Pakistani army was committing genocide and destroying Baluchistan, it's largest and western-most province.

Snarling rhetoric over the border in the ongoing squabbles between India and Pakistan? Never!

I'm sure Modi also talked about the reported human rights abuses reportedly occurring in North eastern India as well right? Or the long standing allegations by Pakistan of alleged abuses in Kashmir right?

Lets be clear here - I'm not for one second attempting to ignore the alleged human rights abuses going on in Baluchistan, and these need to be investigated and acted upon, but this seems a case of India and Pakistan squabbling like two children that need to be sent to the naughty step.

Yet, America and other western powers have turned a blind eye to Baluchistan, just as they did to Bangladesh, which enrages me as an American (and Indian).

False. The EU has talked about imposing sanctions. There is a growing group in the US senate that talks about them getting involved in talks.

I support the idea of peaceful self-determination. For that to happen all parties should engage in peaceful dialogue as a prerequisite before any discussions take place. That includes the separatist groups that have also been engaging in human rights abuses, and Iran, and Afganistan.

Well, my idea was that America tries to balance Pakistan and India's favor. I think they're worried about Pakistan becoming a Russian/Chinese ally. America doesn't want ISIS springing up in even more places that it is already.

India has been warming up to America recently, but that's only the last couple of years. They're still close friends with Russia, though, even going so far as to develop a fifth generation fighter based off of the PAK-FA with them.

Things have changed recently.

Back in the 60s and 70s, Pakistan was a close ally of America, while India was close with the Soviets. In fact, during the Bangladeshi Liberation War, America had sent a fleet to deter India, but the Soviets sent one of their own, too. Pretty tense.

Now, however, with terrorist attacks and Islamophobia and all that jibber-jabber, America's tried to distance itself from Pakistan and trade with India, instead, while Pakistan's bedmate is China. India's cordial with America and friendly with Russia, now.
