If 52% of the country voted to nuke Middlesborough, we'd refuse to do that because it was dumb.

Which is why I've my fingers crossed.

At least I'm lucky in that I'm north of the border. There's always the chance that the SNP might decide to take a page out of Ian Smith's book to keep us in the EU.

Good news, we're all going to be poor. But at least many of us will have degrees so we can be smart and poor.

Bit of dignified poverty never hurt anyone, as long as you don't go looking for benefits. That would be dangerous socialism.

They do not accept the dangerous socialist argument, that the government knows what is better than the oppressed elite do. They don't want to Corbyn's promised land, which must surely rank as the most abhorrent of all the lands ever promised to the wealthy of a nation-state.

Why would you suggest, whilst also announcing that one is 'lucky', the idea otherwise?

Maybe move the cursor away from the italics button when you post.

'Horrible' and 'of' are italicised for emphasis, this is how I've been taught to use them.

Am I weird for finding it much faster and easier to just type square brackets and the desired BBCode command than to take my hand off the keyboard, move my mouse cursor, click the BBCode button, and then move the type cursor to within it, continue typing, then move the cursor outside those brackets, and continue?

Even on mobile, even though it's eight keystrokes for [i] and between 9 and 11 for [/i] (because I always get confused and hit additional keys when putting in that slash), I prefer doing that than clicking on the button and messing with the type cursor.

Not at all. I've typed the BBCode ever since I memorised most, which was probably five months ago.

I do that for stuff like [quote], but for italics and bold, I usually type out the whole sentence and then retroactively apply them, so doubleclick select and buton click is usually faster.

Why would you emphasise the "of"?
Emphasis is typically used to bring attention to the word, to indicate that "it is this word not another" e.g. I'm taking it to the shop vs I'm taking it from the shop.
Either that, or to really put some force behind it. For example "This is horrible" is less impactful and indicates less feeling than "This is horrible"

Emphasising the "of" doesn't really fit either of these

You deliberately wanted to emphasise the word 'of' in that sentence?

Place fist here [ ], typing comrade. I always type out tags. Well, unless I'm typing something in SMALL CAPS, SUCH AS ONE MIGHT DO TO SUGGEST THE VOICE OF THE BORG OR DEATH, then it's simpler to type it out and highlight the bits I want to tag.

I've always been taught to italicise conjunction words to emphasis what is being described. Never thought about it till now.

I think it's pretty situational tbh. Just don't think it works in this situation.
