Much less backwards than now. Largely uncorrupted by Wahhabism in the Arab world as fatwas and treatises from the time can point out. And as much as I disagree with Islamic Modernism, that at least was not barborous and was a prosperous school of thought in some of the Arab world alongside a much more sensible traditionalism.

At the time of classical fascism Muslim countries strength wise were about as powerful as they are now. The Saudis just didn't have western migrants to use as leverage and terrorist groups were largely socialist.


It never ceases to make me laugh how some modern nationists try to squirm out of the fact that Classical Fascists and Nationalists were completely pro Islam. And probably would be now if they were alive today. Albeit definately and rightly so opposed to the Puritan schools and sects.

Anyway. Nazis are nothing to glorify. But Classical Fascists did have some salvageable ideas. And were very much Pro-Islam. Unlike the...ah... people following the several varying populist/neofascist bastard born ideologies.

As long as you were okay with a secular state, then yeah. I don't think that Mussolini and co. would take kindly to modern Wahabhists trying to put theology above the state though.

I do enjoy trolling modern "nationalists" by telling them that Mussolini allowed Libyans to become Italian citizens, and I would have gone a step further by encouraging Italians to marry them.

It is more than the Wahhabis though. The Muslim Brotherhood ain't Wahhabis and neither are a few other admittedly minor organizations.

But yeah. Most are at least influenced by Wahhabis or the Muslim brotherhood.

Anti-Muslim Populists and other liberals both seldom listen to reason. And are seldom capable of understanding anything beyond the most simplistic view possible in any given social situation.

Unsurprising too. Populism is essentially embracing simplistic viewpoints, oftentime knowing their viewpoints are simplistic ( in case of the head demagougue and some of their more devious edgy/stubborn followers) as most liberalism is with it's insistence on feelings before reality.

He's defending non fundamentalist Islam. Something alt rightists are practically defined by the refusal to do. He isn't an alt rightist.

Annyway, the Red Kurds will only bring another form of tyranny. Although got to admit, them wrecking Salafis is a good source of schadenfreude.

A bit like when Hezbollah does it. Rooting for Khomeinists would be awful. But hearing about the destruction to Salafis they're causing never ceases to make me smile. Although ultimately I hope the same comes to them and their fundamentalist overseers in Iran.
