1. Ukraine isn't a NATO state.
2. Just like how all of the times NATO supported anti-WarPac rebels and intervened on their behalf weren't more "blatant" is because of WarPac. Does the fact that people aren't haphazardly stumbling into a war that would devastate the region really offend you that much?
3. So the US must literally hold Europe together, because that the combined might of the UK, France, Germany, and the other EU states could never hope to stand against Russian aggression? At that point, why don't we just make the other NATO nations into our newest states while we're at it?

the way I see it, this country ceased to be my country and its economy ceased to be my economy once the mandate was past. Instead the country and its economy are foreign things while there is a mandate and if they need to be destroyed via internal means to remove the mandate so be it.

From your article:

Plans for NATO membership were shelved by Ukraine following the 2010 presidential election in which Viktor Yanukovych, who preferred to keep the country non-aligned, was elected President.[4][5]

The interim Yatsenyuk Government which came to power, initially said, with reference to the country's non-aligned status, that it had no plans to join NATO.[7]

According to polls conducted between 2005 and 2013, Ukrainian public support of NATO membership remained low.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16]

A Gallup poll conducted in October 2008 showed that 43% of Ukrainians associated NATO as a threat to their country, while only 15% associated it with protection.[98]

I get the general impression from that source that they weren't trying all that hard.

On 29 August 2014, following reports that the Russian military was operating within Ukraine, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk announced that he would ask the Ukrainian parliament to put Ukraine on a path towards NATO membership.[60] The government has also signaled that it hopes for major non-NATO ally status with the United States, NATO's largest military power and contributor.[61]

What a shocking development.

Well it goes to say Putin wants Trump in the white house. No doubt to destabilize NATO and relations with Eastern Europe and the middle east.

First and foremost he's hoping Trump will follow through with throwing the Baltic States under the Putin Bus and possibly cripple or destroy NATO.

I always find it hilarious that when either Democrats or Republicans are embarrassed, they bring up Russia's Imminent Invasion of the Baltics.

He wants Trump to win. Trump is a better external enemy to justify his actions.

Not referring to you specifically, just something I've noticed over the last couple of days.

Trump calls him Crazy Bernie in one breath, and awkwardly courts his supporters in the next. Then says that if the Republicans had been caught doing something like DWS had done, the Dems would have made a huge deal of it. Well, yeah, of course they would. The same way you're doing right fucking now.

This whole bloody election cycle is just the worst kind of telenovella. None of it is funny anymore. It's just mortifying and shameful.

Bernie's supporters like Bernie's policies. I doubt that most have attachment to Bernie.

Umm wait...why isn't it cheating though? Imean that is like Tiger Woods cheating in a golf game against Obama, I mean sure Woods was going to win anyway but if he goes around say moving his ball (like with his hand) that is still cheating.
Plus not sure he actually would have lost, I mean it was always a long shot for a Bernie type candidate, with the DNC helping Clinton he had no chance. Though of course the real problem is the super delegates, but hey they went for Obama and honestly is voting for a independent socialist senator from Vermont in 2016 really that much more radical than voting for a black guy, who was a two term senator in 2008?

What's most ridiculous about this whole "Russia did this!" shit viewing it from the context of the cold war, which is what they are TRYING to get you to do, makes it absolutely obvious we should be thanking the russian government.

These people are basically saying that whenever the west tried to let Russians know how shit the USSR government was, we were being assholes.

Russia just exposed massive levels of collusion and corruption. This is our glasnost. But we're supposed to be mad at them?
These people are so fucking detached from the public.
The "But Russia!" argument is entirely reliant on xenophobia, and on hoping that merely because they're opposing our government, we should get mad at them.
No, they did the US a favor.

Our MEDIA wasn't going to report this shit, so why shouldn't russia? What's the functional difference between us trying to let Russians know their standards of living were shit in the USSR because their media wouldnt tell them, and Russia doing this for us?

"DEM EVIL RUSKIES! THEY OPPOSE THIS SYSTEM! YOU SHOULD BE MAD!"
Why? It's clearly a shit system.

I see no coherent reasoning behind this, and only two possible explanations.

The establishment figures are so far up their own ass and delusional they genuinely believe this is a good system worth defending.

Or

The establishment figures are just responding to this by trying to whip up xenophobia to distract from their own failings, in a year they were *fucking constantly* whining about how Trump was doing this. But I guess since it's Russians, it's okay.

Russia isn't going to start world war 3. The russian generals would depose Putin if he tried, for one thing, assuming the russian people didn't lynch him first.

And frankly, I don't particularly care if Russia decides to go into imperialistic shenanigans against non-western countries.

All of that also ignores, everything I said there was fundamentally correct. It was in the US's strategic interests to fuck up Russias shit too, but it doesn't mean it was a bad thing to let them know how shit communism is.

This IS comparable to a mini-glasnost event. The russians exposed massive levels of collusion and corruption. That's a good thing, and blaming it on them to try and make it bad is completely incoherent. It's just going to make people either hate russians (If they're unthinkingly nationalistic and pro-establishment), or like them even more.

The notion of the Russians invading the baltics or poland is ludicrous. Probably finland too. Everyone knows its a red line, and neither side is interested in the destruction of civilization. Ukraine only got its shit wrecked because most of the western public sees it as part of Russia anyway. Thats not the case with the baltics and poland.

Regardless, even without America involved, Russia would not engage in a war with the Europeans. France alone is sufficient deterrent. America joined the last two world wars late, it could easily happen again.

A russian victory would need to be swift and decisive, and they wouldn't be able to guarantee it.

Plus, it's simply not worth it.
There is a reason they shat the bed and invaded Ukraine so hastily before it joined the west, you know.
It's because they have absolutely no intention of starting that conflict.

they never did. Not even as the USSR.
