Mainly, it's because Australia has a native population which was harshly put down by an invading Western power, and then the Western power became all concerned about others re-invading. That kinda thing. The same happens with the US. The subject matter is Australia, though, so that's why we're singling out Australia.

Yes but 21st century Australia is much much different to past Australia's. The whites were not just racist towards the Aboriginals but Chinese, Indians, etc.

So racism will always exist in Australia but it will be put down and rejected from mainstream society harshly because of the fact that our nation is so multicultural and rich in different peoples.

Treated their indigenous people with respect, appointed indigenous people to public office way before Australia, allowed them their own land to do their own thing (which cannot be infringed upon without consent of the indigenous people there) etc.
