It's supposed to protect you from state regulation of speech. You are protected from violence by other laws, sure, but not Freedom of Speech.Olerand wrote:This is the second article about antifa, and their opponents, in America... My question is... Why?
Why do antifas exist in a country with a negligible history of fascism and no fascist party to speak of? To fight what? Who? Why?
This article is actually directly related to the last one you probably saw, if it's the Sacramento rally. The reason its come up is because seven people were stabbed and videos went viral.
America's "negligible" history of fascism involves an endless list of hate crimes and the Klan, an organization that once had millions of members.
Hate crimes does not equal fascism. The KKK was not fascist. So, yes, negligible level of fascism, even if the Klan were fascist.
And I still don't see the point in having antifas.

Because we wanted to keep the communist fascist evil from spreading to America.
Honestly I have no idea. I thought this was something to worry about in the home country of Oswald Mosley. But then again the US has all sorts of little parties who want to repeal the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments or go back to the days when they were barely even enforced.Olerand wrote:We strike, then riot, the negotiate. So, really, all three are our national sports.
France sure is a violent and illiberal nation.
but why so much rioting and striking and negotiating?
How else can you protect your acquis sociaux (our social rights that we gained through struggling, really) from corporate fat cats?
Also, sometimes for other political reasons, sometimes because of sports, sometimes for regional issues, sometimes just for fun really.
