Well, I guess that in an appropriate Hilbert space, we could find a linear operator that would allow us to describe that.

True.

I wish the USA just switched to metric.

The entire system is very archaic, to be perfectly honest.

I don't know what a rod is, but I do know the furlong. A furlong is exactly 8 chains, 176 yards, 528 feet, 6336 inches, 6336000 thous, 1/10 mile, 1/30 of a league, or roughly 161 meters.
We also have the amazingly stupid measurements of jiffy, moment, butt, fathom, cable, link, perch, rood, acre, hectare, minim, shot, gill, barrel, hogshead, peck, bushel, grain, dram, donkeypower, etc.

Wait, what the hell? I didn't know any of these existed and hopefully, my Math teacher never makes me learn more measurements. These are probably useless and donkeypower; give me a break.

That's a joke right? You realise SI is remarkably more efficient and logical than customary units, right? Also, how can a measurement system be communist?

Honestly, I'd just stick to the metric system. All these new units are confusing and serves as a deterrent for potential immigrants.

I basically just resist because fuck learning a whole new goddamn measurement system. I've finally got a decent-enough grasp on imperial at this point, I'm not getting bullied by a bunch of french fucking euro-capitalist fuckers into re-taking first grade, but now with ten times the violent anger and embarrassment

Oh, we would. That's how efficient the metric system is; we could organise it all in an afternoon and have it rolled out by the following morning.

Switching over to metric isn't urgent, but I think it could be something the United States should do. I can't remember if I would've pushed harder for it a few years ago.

There is only one thing we are missing in our thought of switching to the metric system. Well, two things really. First, think how hard cooking would be with milliliters and grams instead of teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, etc. Second, this is the U.S. If we switched to the metric system we would probably switch to base 11 or something like that just so we could be different.
