I'm doing pretty good. It's just been a normal Sunday.

Oh yeah, you do some of that too, don't ya? It's not too hard to get into is it? Cause I'm driving from Kansas to wherever and I don't wanna end up job and homeless for more than a month!

Video games, cookies, and yes, the Internet.

Yup I do. What department are you looking into? I know CalFire is really competitive, but I'm not sure about USFS or other departments.

I watched a bit of Overwatch, but I don't really like online gaming, but what is KOTOR? And FEEEEEECK, that sounds like an amazing cookie, I'll have to see if I can make some like that myself..

I have no idea which one I'm looking for yet, I just found out about it when looking for jobs related to national parks. I don't even know what state I wanna settle on yet!

Knights of the Old Republic, a Star Wars RPG.
It came out back in the olden days of the original XBOX, but I'm playing it on my iPad.

US Forest Service is probably the easiest to get into. I'm not sure if they require EMT/EMS like CalFire does though.
Are you physically and mentally prepared to fight wildfires? It ain't easy, it's stressful, you can't go home for 6 months during fire season, you have to work weeks straight without a day off, sometimes have to work 36+ hours without rest. If you're on a hand crew you'll have to hike miles up unforgiving terrain with 40 or more pounds of gear. The satisfaction is great though. It's beyond great. Seeing residents thank you and being so well received by the community you helped save is priceless. It makes it all worth while. The pay? It's not great. But I don't do it for the money.

I thought they shut the servers down for that a while ago.. Maybe it's a different game I'm thinking of. If I had time, that'd probably be a game I'd play.Republic of Canador wrote:

Is there on the job training for required EMT stuff, or should I do that now?
And I already do fairly physical work on 4 1/2 hours of sleep during the school year. A reason I decided on firefighting was because it's a physical job that's outside. I help friends with their boy scout eagle projects and I always enjoy it, especially if there's intense physical labour. While I'm young and resilient, I might as well put my body to work doing something helpful and stressful that others might find difficult to do. I really enjoy being outdoors, working hard, hiking, and that sort of stuff. What you described sounds like a job I might want to do for more than just one year.

You may be thinking of The Old Republic, although I don't think those servers have been shut down.
And yeah, I recommend it if you're a big RPG or SW fan. Especially if you're both.

Definitely do it now. Get it out of the way and you'll look that much better as a future firefighter.
Feel free to telegram me questions or if you just want tips for stuff. I'd be glad to help. :3
