Until recently, we had the highest minimum wage in the country.

I know. I'm not sure what you meant by the post where you said "the rest of the state can get fucked" though.

That's unfair. WA is one of 7 states (plus DC) with the state minimum wage over $9. Apparently it's $9.45 and indexed.

I'm sorry, but I am unable to say the words "thank you" and "Donald" in the same sentence. ;)

We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

I think that unless Clinton fucks up royally, most Sanders supporters will likely vote for her, and most of those who don't wouldn't have voted for her regardless (i.e. fringe-independents).

Yeah, the Washington Post does it per month for whatever reason. I find clicking the link and hitting the stop button as soon as it loads the article gets around it easy enough.

I figured they'd come around though. I expressed some angst that he might lead them astray, but I didn't figure he'd actually do it, and it looks like he's not going to. I'm feeling pretty confident going into the convention. We're gonna keep Trump out I think.

The Romulan Republic wrote:The only policy of hers' I'm aware of that has major potential for immediate disaster is the Syria policy, as I see no way to enforce a no-fly zone at present that doesn't amount to starting a shooting war with Russia. However, because I don't think Clinton is generally stupid, insane, or suicidal, I suspect that some of her stance is just posturing.

FWIW, in the world of geopolitics, it's beginning to look like the Syrian Civil War was the trigger for the current crisis within the European Union, and the breakup of the European Union (should it happen) will embolden the Russians like nobody's business. If Russia decides that the end of the EU justifies the reestablishment of its empire in Eastern Europe, that could very well be the trigger that pushes us into a shooting war with Moscow.

Which would be the Irony to End All Ironies™: That we resisted a no-fly zone that might have led us into a shooting war with Russia, only to precipitate a refugee crisis that ultimately led us into a shooting war with Russia.

Tends to correlate fairly strongly with it. Developed countries with high "qualities of life" have either very strong collective bargaining processes, a high minimum wage, or both. We can argue about causality though, I guess.

I mean no offense. You're nerdy and I like that.

I think it's mostly reading stuff on Bernie social media pages (esp Reddit) that goes "Sanders can still win California with 60% of the vote!"

Uhm, no. Sanders needs over 100% of remaining votes to win. I guess if at least I've made it clear that there isn't a contest still going on, I've done something worthwhile :P

I think, given Sanders is angling for a possible Convention fight on the Platform, it'll be interesting to see how many delegates are loyalists to him. Pledged delegates is the closest proxy we have to that (other than going into the identity of every single delegate, which I don't wanna do for obvious reasons)

Case in point: The Sanders subreddit almost convinced itself today that Sanders flipped over LA and SF Counties.

It's pretty good entertainment material -- basically the only subreddit that I visit.

I am actually surprised he didn't win the San Francisco area, or at least didn't do better, but wut. How even...

What's worst is that a speaker in an official-looking rally said that.

Like, they couldn't have at least bothered checking the latest returns?

San Francisco County is even fully certified and finalised at this point.
