Currently that is still a human activity, but we already live in a world where the next generation of industrial robots is assembled by the previous generation of industrial robots.

That's old hat. Americans are good at robotics, so it may very well be them. Otherwise it will be the Koreans or the Japanese.

It's western decadence we're combating here so I'm afraid the east is going to have to sit this one out for the sake of the hypothetical.

It's a bit more complicated than that, true, but the first personal computers were actually manufactured in the US of A.

Authorities in the Third Reich were of the opinion that a 'mongrel nation' such as the USA could never become too strong, because they lacked the purity, the purpose and other stupid things that nazis are so fond of. It was only one of many mistakes made by them.

That and invading Russia in the winter.

Also, naming an entire military operation after a German ruler who drowned during the Crusades.

Or a dramatically successful one, depending on whether or not you're the owner of the colonies or the ones doing the colonizing.

No thank you, I know what is best. We can tell the public we are building intelligent machines, to build intelligent machines to make the selections, but we will spend the money on bunga-bunga parties in the French Riviera.
