Really Britain. If you wanted to leave, you could have done it in a less stupid way.

^ This, seriously.

I agree. Our current government seems to have unnerving knack of, when presented with several options, picking the worst one. Even when there are no good options they don't merely settle for bad when terrible could do. They also, like many governments, throw over long-term concerns and foreign relations to improve their domestic standing slightly.

It is quite improbable for Scotland to leave the UK because Scotland currently faces a huge budget deficit that is three times the deficit faced by the UK as a whole, and it will have to rely on Westminster to solve their budgetary problems. And also, Scotaldn would most likely wish to continue using the pound even after they leave, but if they want to join the EU, the EU might not agree on them using the pound, and that may cause Scotland's proposals to be rejected, thus in logical sense, Scotland would be in a bad position if they left the EU now.

I did not literally mean that Ostro has no right to do so. He does have that right, but personally find talk of Brexit as the UK's "independence day" to be rather bewildering and irritating, as someone whose country actually has a well-earned independence day, in honour of the day when we declared ourselves a sovereign republic, free from our colonial overlords. Not in honour of the day when we refused to join the ALCA.

That is very demeaning to the British people who sincerely feel they are on the verge of winning a hard-fought independence from the tyranny of Brussels.

You're asking people to not do what's been done to them for years.
Now you realize how it's feels.

ofcourse they're going to laugh at you, mock you, and pretend nothing is wrong and you're just whining. Why wouldn't they? For once, their policy that you are scared of is getting forced on you.

Ostro.MOV

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.
