As for me, same religion its been my whole life, though as always, I am a damnably poor example of the strictest sense of it. LDS, Mormon. No, I will not send missionaries after you, nor try to convert you. Sorry to disappoint.

Other shoddy Mormon reporting in. I'm actually leaving for my mission next week.

I'm assuming it has something to do with missionary activity. Not sure though, I'm not well versed in Christian vocabulary.
For anyone wondering, I joined this website during my edgy teenage years. I made a lot of dumb, awkward posts, flip-flopped between various extreme ideologies, and just generally embarrassed myself. I denounce a sizable amount of my past posts. I am no longer active on NationStates and this nation/account is no longer used.

Mormons/members of the LDS church serve a mission when they are 18 to perform missionary work for the church.

I think non-Jehovah's Witnesses are more sophisticated with their conversion efforts.

Good luck with it - if you're headed to the Des Moines area, I might even see you around. I work with the folks at the mission office now and then, mostly with the farewell videos. (Its a thing they do for everyone returning home - kinda nifty.)

Correction: That's the first opportunity to choose to serve one. It isn't mandatory. I've never, neither has my husband. My sister and both brothers have though. And I work with several older couples who are serving as couples - people can do that for a number of positions that have more to do with service than with sharing the gospel with others. In some areas, due to the laws in place, service missions are all that can be served, actually.

Ah, I thought it was required at 18. Interesting, my mistake!
