Religion & NS

Postby Imperial States America » Tue Feb 02, 2016 7:00 am

Over the time I have been on NationStates I've come to and fro on the forums and a lot of times I've seen that a lot of the players subscribe their nations to being mostly atheist or agnostic or both now I'm just curious as to why so many subscribe to this belief in game but I gets the real qeustion is are these views held in real life or are they just an in game belief?* I am Catholic but on some of my nations I do have other religions but my main ones I still keep as Christian. I'm just really curious of the role religion or non-religion plays in the function of NS

* my real question

It's most of the time, their real beliefs, religious people usually care of "action", irreligious join sites like this, even though, religious people are still the majority here.
I'm Estenia so please put all the ranks of Estenia to this nation.

My main nation is has a irreligious majority with a Christian state religion. It's all role-played, in all actuality I'm Jewish.

I use my nation as a platform for my actual political and religious views. I am a Marxist-Leninist so I subscribe to State Atheism and once I am able to determine my own religion Atheism will go in that box.

I can't say I've ever thought very hard about the religious beliefs of the fictional people of my fictional nation.

My nation is a more extreme, fun version of my views. I'm an atheist, but the majority of the people of Yymea are religious, although more people are atheist/agnostic than the most important religion.

It seems odd to me that you would role play a religion that you do not believe in.
But then I've never been big on role play, don't really see the appeal.

I agree with you. Part of my philosophy of fiction is that fiction should resemble reality and, as an irreligious person, I give my nation my own views, ie: irreligious views.

It's kinda exciting to I guess, that's how I view it anyways. My nation has a irreligious majority with a Christian state religion but IRL I'm Jewish

People tend to shape their countries after their own religious views (I should have thought of that). My nation doesn't reflect my religious views, really (although shades of my political views exist)

But there are plenty of Christians here of all kinds. From Conservative Traditionalists to Liberal reformists to Ultranationalist pseudo-Christians who say they want the church back in ultimate power yet express their desire and full intent to stick their pricks in everything they see and other morally questionable acts.

Jews and Muslims have pretty sizable communities here too. As do some amount of animist revivalists I think.

By definition, if you aren't a theist than you're an atheist.

(The percentage of humans that are theists) + (the percentage of humans that are atheists) = 100%

Also, Heil Kauthar!

Agnostics really are neither. And really, that's not even counting all the religious people who are adherents to non-theistic religions.
