Mercedes > BMW, for me, it's the best or nothing, not the "ultimate" so-called driving machine. Even so, BMWS are alright.
Audi is ok, but I prefer RWD for luxury and sport.
V8s are charismatic engines, and have a nice exhaust note, despite the biggest turbo you put on your 4 cylinder, whether it is inline or flat.
Miata, lol, it's now a meme car.
Nissan GT-R, it's a bit overrated, sure it can put a nice laptime down, but it's now
Subaru, for someone reason I have a gargantuan dislike for them, for some reason. Maybe it's the subculture.

CVTs have merits, they can give good mileage and are smooth.
Mercedes is, indeed, better. They usually make more reliable cars and are cheaper nowadays.
The Miata is a meme car for a good reason - it's that great.
And I don't give half of a shit about the fanbase of a car. If it's good, it's good, if it's bad, it's bad, no matter who owns it.

Mazda Miata/MX5
Pros: Superior handling, basic bros hate it (Your tuned Mustang can't outhandle it)
Cons: Underpowered, but somewhat okay, power, older ones are quite spartan.
Fanbases can be annoying, I wouldn't want Subie guys saying "one of us" to me, but blaming bad fandoms is too superficial. Even so, no Subaru had ever enticed me, the BRZ came close, but the Toyota FRS is cheaper and the same car, but more people complain about the engine's output than any Subie stigma, had they got the BRZ over the FRS/GT86. Mind you, this is why LS swaps are thing, even if it is an overplayed meme.

Imagine you are an owner of a small delivery company, operating in the city of Washington. It is 1993 and you want to buy a few vans for the company fleet. The options are:
- Chevrolet G10 5.7 4-speed automatic,
- GMC Vandura 1500 5.7 4-speed automatic,
- Ford Econoline 150 4.9 4-speed automatic,
- Dodge B100 5.2 4-speed automatic.

Which one would you buy? I'd get the Econolines.

In all seriousness, I find vans fascinating.

Not sure why though, I suppose they are very useful, can haul lots of stuff, and they are the few vehicles that one can live in.

Conversion vans are best vans, especially vans with couches and beds int them for travelling, it's like a RV, but more reasonably sized.

I know, right? When I was a kid back in the early '90s I wanted my parents to get a conversion van because it was like the coolest thing ever.

I had a neighbor in Virginia, he had a Chevy conversion van, it was the coolest to my young mind. To be fair, any car with a couch and TV would be the coolest to a five year old, aside from a flamboyant Italian supercar.

Personally the rear design is a deal breaker for me. I much rather prefer the Fiat 124 Spider's looks. Could have used a better engine though. Also it uses the old NC gearbox which is also a minus probably.

The ND MX is fugly, and the 124 needs colors before I would consider it. I'm not impressed with an array of monochrome + red, FIAT. Try again.

Toyota's designers need to be stopped.

First they gave the Lexus lineup rodent faces.

Yes, it seems like every car designer wants aggressive, angry facias. But why? Mazdas used to be happy bubbly eyed, for example. Speaking of them, that was the Scion iA, now Toyota Yaris iA, which is really a Mazda 2, mind Mazda always had big maws.

I prefer the aggressive cars. I think the older, "happy", small cars look bland. What's more, I get some sort of a pleasure from seeing them get wrecked.

Imagine you are an owner of a factory farm in 2002 Virginia. You want to enlarge the company fleet with a few 2-door diesel heavy duty pickups. But which ones? Here are the best picks:
- Chevrolet Kodiak 7.2 diesel,
- GMC TopKick 7.2 diesel,
- International 4100 7.6 diesel,
- Freightliner M2 6.9 diesel,
- Ford F-650 7.2 diesel.

Which one would you buy? I think I'd go with the Freightliner. Heavy duty chassis combined with a popular engine with plentiful parts.

Too expensive to get a license, an insurance, a car and maintain it. Besides, public transit is great and I can always carpool if I really needed to.

Cars are faster than public transport. And if you buy something like a Dacia Sandero, you will have better comfort and speed at a similar price.

Well, didn't think that through. But cars are still better, because you can choose your own route, your own music, your own departure time, temperature, destination... more freedom.

And they are pretty cheap. The cheapest used cars worth buying are $1000 in the US and about £250 in the UK (£2500 with insurance). If you don't like paying for fuel and don't cover large distances, you can check used electric cars and microcars out.

Petrolheadia, you're never going to win out on a price to price comparison from cars to public transport, Especially in the places in Europe where they have good public transport and actively do everything they can to make car ownership more expensive.

Depends on where you are. If you're in the city (especially in Europe) near public transport where parking is inconvenient or really expensive, I don't really know if they are worth it. If you're in the country or suburbs (especially in America) yeah they are worth it.

I live in Europe and cars are convenient in most urban areas. The only exceptions are certain preserved historically significant areas.

Where you live isn't really where I mean. More like London, or Oxford, or Paris, or Stockholm etc. ... in any of those far western european countries that have no parking in the cities, traffic designed for public transit (i.e. feminist snowplow systems and roundabouts everywhere), massive taxes on cars, or generally hate cars. New York City and San Fransisco in the states can probably be lumped in with those cities too.
