Well, the GTI and Megane are similar, but not similar enough.
The GTI has sporting pretentions.
The Megane GT (because that is the current range-topper) is more of a well-equipped version of the car, not a sporty one.
The new Megane RS is not out yet and will compere against the Golf R.

Megane vs Golf is like Impala vs Charger. Sure, they both are in the same segment, but they aren't that similar.

Well they're raced fairly often which is enough for me.

I think I'd be better off buying a later year gen 2 MR2.

Supra handles better though, and body is probably lighter too.

You can honestly probably get 1000hp out of the Supra's engine. Add double clutch and no stock car can hold a candle to it on a quarter mile.

Besides if you really want a ridiculous engine swap, drop any GM V8 of your choice inside a Lancer and watch it fly away.

Because the C4 is ugly as sin? Not to mention Vettes are basically really marked down touring cars. Anything older than a C5 is begging for a track junkie to totally strip it.

Another car story where every person adds the next paragraph:
In 1958, James Moore, a 37-year-old single WWII and Korean War veteran working in a DuPont paint factory in quality assurance, who lived in a nicer part of Bronx, bought himself a brand-new VW Beetle. He did that, because the car had good gas mileage and was reliable, at least compared to American cars. After buying the Beetle, he liked it and realised that he does not need a big car anymore. And after he got married (1961) and had his 1st child (1963), he sold the Beetle, wanting to replace it with a Type 2. The Beetle's 2nd owner was..

Well, the first few years of the C3 were the pre-emissions engines, but later on, it was making 190-200 hp.

Well the plan is that, or an MR2.

Miata would be much easier to learn and doesn't have oversteer problems at somewhat higher speeds, but I think the MR2 would be a lot more *fun.*

And it would be a good way to prepare for the inevitable day when I will buy a goddamned Elise. It will happen.

So while my Passat is pissing coolant and sitting at my trusty VW specialist, I'm driving one of these bad boys:

I didn't actually plan to drive a truck, but that's what they had when I made my reservation. It's a 2016 with the EcoBoost V6, and holy shit it is a lot faster than I expected.

For the last decade or so, Ford has been fixing their F-150 V6s to be on par with the V8s, but truck guys just don't like the missing cylinders.
