Bernie Sanders driven off the stage in Seattle

Postby Greed and Death » Sat Aug 08, 2015 8:11 pm

Bernie Sanders was giving a rally in Seattle Washington when protesters storm the stage and seized the microphone.

Protesters demanded Sander's apologize for being racist and not addressing criminal justice issues.

Honestly this seems odd. Of the Candidates for the Democratic party's nomination Sanders seems like the best bet for an aggressive civil rights policy. So I really do not know what to make of it, it almost seems like someone is trying to force Sander's out of the election. NSG any ideas, conspiracy theories ?

It's almost like he doesn't address all the issues of the people he claims to represent.

I think Bernie is conspiring against himself.

The New Left, left alone to dominate the political landscape of cosmopolitan places like Seattle and San Fran, now turns on the very people it used to espouse. It will be interesting to see the leftists eat their own.

Personally I like Bernie Sanders to some extent, but by no means do I trumpet him as the future of change in this country. Out of all the other Democratic/Independent candidates, however, he is the least shit.

EDIT: Just looked up what exactly happened, this is absolutely insane. The political correctness is out of control, what the fuck Seattle.

There goes the last ounce of respect I had for this movement.

Brown people wanting to be recognized in the issues listed as important by the people who just assume they get brown votes because "reasons".

Didn't this same group do something like this to Sanders and O'Malley a few weeks ago?

Eh, Sanders is actually their best candidate when it comes to representing minorities, considering the man fought for them for 50 plus years.

Ugh ... Just ugh. BLM has legitimate grievances, yeah, but this type of conduct is just poisoning a movement which already isn't on great footing.

And really, Bernie? All the candidates, and you go for friggin Bernie Sanders?

Oh man, I sure do love identity politics. The right doesn't even have to do any work now; the left just eats itself with holier-than-thou status signaling.

Of all the candidates to protest, it seems like Sanders should have been at the bottom of the list. Seriously, no one is perfect, but you'd better have a lot of evidence if you're going to call arguably one of your biggest proponents in Congress a racist.

Both the left and right eat each other, the far side of both are pretty much the same.

It'd be so funny if it wasn't sad and pathetic. I know I'm not visiting Seattle or San Fran anytime soon, but now I know to avoid these places. Clearly it is a crime to care about actual problems in this country. The self-destruction of the left is going to be a popcorn filled nightmare of privilege checking and personal attacks. Good thing I live far away from the loonies.

Sanders has always been pretty plainly more interested in economic inequality than racial inequality, and has made a few foot-in-mouth/poorly received comments about racial issues lately.

This seems, however, like the radical fringe of the progressive movement turning on its own champions for insufficient zeal - similar to the way Republican candidates must pander to the far right or be denounced by them. The difference being that the voice of, say, Rush Limbaugh is much louder than that of a couple of protestors, and distorts campaigns to a greater degree.

I think that these protestors are shooting their cause in the foot here, and I think they shouldn't be disrupting events in this way. Pinning down Sanders with a few questions about how he plans to address the racial inequality in America would be more effective than silencing him entirely. Silent, his undelivered opinions could be great or they could be terrible; but if they believe him to be ineffectual or disconnected on matters of race, why not let him show everyone that?

Events like this do serve to push the issue of racial inequality further towards the front of the long list of campaign topics for this election (they were going to be there anyway, mind you), so maybe that's what the protestors intended. But I think their methods are crude and discredit the movement they claim to represent.

Wasn't Bernie Sanders in the civil war rights movement?
