I'll admit, I'm a bit worried about all of the bugs that might still be there. In the technical preview, there were bugs everywhere. And they've only just sorted out that problem with all the NVidia drivers…

Hence the waiting.

I signed up for the free version some months back - yet I can't help but worry as to whether there was a typo in my email address - and there doesn't seem to be a way to check for it - so now I just wait... I recently opened my email address to see if I should expect to see any emails from Microsoft telling me Windows 10 will release very soon - but I got no such email... now I'm worried -what I did give add an accidental typo to my email address when I signed up for the reservation... though I probably didn't... I'm sure the worry is just in my head... I hope.

I really do want to get updated to Windows 10 for free as soon as possible - did Microsoft send any emails recently to those who reserved for a free version a few months back?

I've got my concerns about program compatibility.

Yeah. Quite a few other people are thinking along the same lines.

You don't need to give your email to get the upgrade.

Got an old laptop I can use to test-run it. Thing is close to falling apart after 4 years of hard labour, so any errors may not be solely due to updated OS.

If it does okey and I like how it handles, I'll put it on my Puty-poo.

OK, it's 0008, and I've got no notifications, and as far as I can tell I've got the files. Looks like it's going to be 0000EDT.

I have a question; what unfathomable reason did they have to name it 10 instead of 9? Seems unnecessary and incredibly odd to me.

Is anyone else mildly disgruntled that Windows RT won't be getting anything?

Well you're getting something, just not Windows 10. It's like how Windows Phone 7.5 got 7.8 instead of 8. It sucks, but it's probably a hardware issue.

Hmm. 'Update 3'. Sounds mysterious. Well, at least I'm getting something.

I thought it might be hardware too, but then isn't Win10 supposed to be a 'universal' OS that runs on everything? I think I heard they're compiling an ARM version for it. I think they just can't be bothered with RT anymore. Like the article said, it failed. It's terrible.

It's already been released in parts of Asia, where it's tomorrow already.

Will you be upgrading?
What are your hopes for the new OS?

Does anyone live in Asia and have it already?

I think that W10 is going to be great. I have really high hopes for it. It looks great, and promises good performance. I guess I'll have to wait to find out.

nothing.

More waiting, then, I guess.

We should probably be grateful it didn't go, Windows 1, Windows 11, Windows 12... Windows 19, Windows 2

I don't mind paying for Windows 10 later on, so I won't be updating because I like Windows 7 enough to use it until its end of life date. Windows 10 is probably what I'd move to afterwards but I'd like to do so using newer hardware than what I've currently got. If I replace everything, I expect to be using it for at least 5 years if not longer. I like the above $500 but below $1,000 price range. Tends to not be state of the art, but have better performance than the cheaper PC offerings.

Barboneia wrote:I have a question; what unfathomable reason did they have to name it 10 instead of 9?

It is because there is a lot of legacy code in different applications out there that businesses use which are written to say that "Windows 9" refers to Windows 95 or Windows 98 whenever said applications are trying to determine what version of OS the software is on. Microsoft denies this, but it is as good an explanation as any offered for the real reason why Microsoft didn't call their newest OS Windows 9. This was allegedly leaked by a Windows developer who remained anonymous.

So they can claim, in case of a failure, that it was a typo and was meant to be 1.0...

I'm getting it on my desktop. I'm waiting on my laptop to see if it borks my desktop. :p

I've read they're rolling it out gradually so they don't break their servers. Most of us probably won't get it July 29, but it is coming. Kinda like winter on Game of Thrones. ;)
