If I had to, I'd be a USAAC bomber pilot over Europe. You get a nice view of the French/German countryside from your "office" and if there's any trouble from the Luftwaffe your gunners and escorts will handle them. My second choice would be a US army tank driver in the Pacific. Japanese tanks suck so there's not much to worry about and again, the gunner does the work.

On the other hand, the Soviets raped, murdered, and pillaged several thousand German refugees as they tried to flee from them for nothing else but the fact that the refugees were of Germanic descent. They also could have helped the Polish during the Warsaw Uprising but failed to do so and then forced the country under its heel for another forty-five years. Both sides were evil and committed their share of atrocities, but the Nazis were definitely more devious than the Soviets.
