I like Angela Merkel to an extent, I went with Ms. Preca mainly because her government just made Malta one of the most trans inclusive states on earth.

Not really, no. He's a socialist, not a distributist, and any similarities between the two ideologies come more from a shared rejection of capitalism than from genuine agreement.

Putin's winning? Really? For fuck's sake.

Well, I guess there's a certain percentage of the population that idolizes tyrants. The kind of person who mistakes brutality for strength and oppression for security. Or in Putin's case, the kind of person who thinks you're automatically the good guy if you're against America/the west.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

Alternatively, people just support the person who is, for once, willing to stand up for his people and fight back against Western imperialist attempts to seize Eastern Europe. It's about damn time someone stood up against Western Imperialism with more than just empty words and actually did something.
If you don't like what I'm saying, ask me whether I actually believe it. I may not, and may simply be playing devil's advocate because I believe that a legitimate argument is being ignored. If you still don't like what I'm saying, take it up with me via telegram. Don't derail the thread because of it.

Meanwhile Americans, the Brtis, the French, Germans, and others are championing their free speech rights, gradual acceptance of LGBT rights, democracy, and so on. The brave Putin? Political oppression.

Like I said, some people mistakenly believe that you're automatically a good guy if you're against the west. Its not imperialism if you're not a westerner, apparently.

Replacing Western imperialism with bald quasi-fascism isn't an improvement. You can't say you're anti-imperialist and then turn around and support a guy who's literally waging a war of straight-up territorial annexation.
