Shinzo Abe. Is he perfect? Of course not? Is he working hard to clean out corruption and economic mismanagement from Japan? Yes, and as a result, I'm rooting for the guy. Bibi Netanyahu is a close second, and I can admire Modi in India.

His name isn't even spelled right in the poll.

But for a choice... Yingluck Shinawatra if she hadn't been deposed in that stupid coup would still be the elected prime minister of Thailand, so she'd be number one. Otherwise... ugh... I'm almost tempted to say Ma Ying-jeou, even though I wish Dr. Tsai Ing-wen had been elected last cycle. I hope Professor Ko runs for President of the ROC, he's already the best mayor Taipei's ever had.

I suppose I can't really choose from Asia though I'd like to, so... Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta.

Hell yeah putin's winning. Putin is the best, I don't really know why, I just know deep in my heart that Putin is the greatest leader since IVLIVS CAESAR.

Edit: I didn't even consider Pope Francis. Brain fart. In that case, it's Pope Francis, with Hans-Adam a close second.

Which doesn't take away from the fact that "greatest leader since Julius Caesar" is a massive insult to far better men and women throughout history.

I don't know if I'd call any world leader a favorite of mine. Xi Jinping is probably the most interesting to read about because he's a bit of a mystery.

And he's no mystery to China watchers. He's good at consolidating power and purging and scapegoating Jiang Zemin and his factional cronies.

I wouldn't say it's ultranationalism, by any stretch of the imagination. Call me when Seoul is ruled by the Mighty Abe, then we'll call it ultranationalism.
