One of the 'benefits' of being in opposition is you can't mess up the whole country.
Sure they will fuckup, (and arguably electing Corbyn is a fuckup), but not to the same degree a government might.

Of course. But Corbyn right now leads a party with a NEC that doesn't want him, where MPs are already scheming up against him, where he has sling out the vast majority of Frontbenchers etc. He is certainly not going to win back Scotland with a disunited Labour Party and honestly if I was a Scotsman right now I'd be strongly leaning towards supporting independence over dealing with an ineffective Labour Party and the Tories. The media will probably pull out all stocks against him too and when it comes to the actual elections, how does he win over people who voted Tory over Labour last election? When the government fucks up and there's a strong opposition to make a rattle over it, it's all good; in this case, we'll have a weak opposition that will be united a small set of chains called the 'Labour Party'.

The loss of 12 front-benchers, even red tories and blue labour, is substantial and should be met with caution, not jubilation.

If they go without being pushed it means they don't even need to be purged. Politics is better without the bastards.

It reflects a loss of confidence in the Labour party. Admittedly, these are individuals supposedly not in line with Labour's "true" direction, but this effect is substantial.

This is a worry, not a good riddance.

Even as someone who heartily dislikes him, it's an utter non-story. It's a weak-to-decent joke which isn't really "punching down" and which most people in Yorkshire seem to either be fine with or not care about.

Who cares if the red tories have lost confidence.

Because he made an (admittedly poor) joke so it's not really a news story...

The NEC can not want him all they like, but they don't have the popular backing to oust him. Not yet, at any rate. I imagine the 'plan' is to wait until he makes a really big mistake, or after the 2020 election.

Anyway, to sum up your post, these are potential failures rather than fuckups. A fuckup (technically speaking) would be messing up a badger cull so badly and then claiming that 'they moved the goalposts' - as in something that went publicly wrong that was needless (the badger cull would not have been an issue if they didn't cull them in the first place, and then mess it up, and then top it all off with a memorable gaffe).

And yes, the press and Tories will hammer him, and yes I agree to all those issues that I don't think he will overcome. I just don't consider them to be needless fuckups.

Locking because we're at 498 pages, and the election of Corbyn will likely lead to some strong posting activity (as we're now seeing).

I'll restart a new thread in a few minutes; thanks for your patience in the interim.
