Debate questions are meant to be provocative as well as informative. These are people who are hoping to take on what is, in many ways, the most powerful position in the world. If they can't handle dealing with a loaded question effectively, then they don't have any place on that stage.

I just thought it was funny that most of the questions went something like, "Mr. _______, Mr. __________ has said X, but you said Y. Why is he wrong?"
But then, with a few exceptions, they refrained from attacking each others' positions.

It's an opportunity for the candidates to draw clear differences between them.

Was anyone else repulsed by Trump standing there with that grotesque smirk on his face the whole time?

I find him to be very funny and very entertaining and that includes his expressions and body language, but that does not make a good President.

Is it just me, or has all the charisma left Scott Walker and Rand Paul lately?

Scott Walker is sort of like what an alien who's only experience with humans is vague tales told by third parties would think humans are like.

So it's not really left, so much as become more visible that it was never there.

Walker doesn't talk to humans. He talks to the faceless special interests.

A thought just crossed my mind. Maybe we should put Huckabee's wife on the $10. After all, he said it. She's put up with him for 40 years. I barely put up with him for three hours. It's an impressive achievement.

Rarely have I been so amused by a moment from a Republican presidential debate.

Knokkeheist wrote:So who is the most politicly close to Ronald Reagan? The best president ever.

A Democrat, probably. The GOP has actually gone far to the right since Ronnie boy was in office.

Thing is, though, Reagan was absolutely not, in any way, "the best president ever."
Knokkeheist wrote:How right as in anarchist and libertarians?

...anarchists are left-wing...

The GOP has largely fallen to paleoconservatism, laissez-faire capitalism, and strong nationalism. Making it a couple economic steps away from fascism.

Economically? Yes, yes it is. The farthest you could go with it is center, maybe center left.

Thing is, if it's capitalist, I find it hard to peg something as firmly economically left wing.

Yeah.

It's not Fiorina though.

The only other female option is Hillary, and that's just an awful idea.

I'm waiting for the Democratic debates so Bernie can just wreck that bitch...in typical mellow inoffensive Bernie style.

If their were as many debates as last year (seriously, twice the number of candidates, half the debates?) she'd be skyrocketing in the polls. She owned a large amount of that stage.

I was watching the post-debate analysis by The Young Turks, and one of the panelists, I believe Cenk Uygur, made the point that Tapper didn't do one single bit of on-air fact-checking.
You'd better believe I'm a bitter Bernie Sanders supporter. The Dems fucked up and fucked up hard. Hopefully they'll learn that neoliberalism and maintaining the status quo isn't the way to win this election or any other one. I doubt they will, though.
