There was a whiner category?

Carly will fail as she failed as a CEO and failed trying to become a senator.

Well in regards to her Senate campaign, I think any GOP candidate in California knows their place. I think it's more just to have the message represented than it is a genuine attempt at winning.

That was an almost direct quote from Cruz's closing statement but that was still just as funny.

Trump's contribution entirely.

Reince Priebus is probably somewhere throwing down bottles of xanax and Johnie Walker. Trump did well enough to keep his base support.

Yeah. Losing to Barbara Boxer by ten percentage points is a GOOD result. The time before Bill Jones lost by twenty!

I watched the post-debate analysis done by The Young Turks. Jimmy Dore, who is a comedian for those not in the know, predicted that Trump will see a slight drop (1% or 2%) in the polls and that the media will swarm like piranhas on him, declaring that he is vulnerable. He reasoned that this'll happen because he thinks that Fiorina and Carson will see a bump in their poll numbers and that there are very few Republicans left who are on the fence about Trump that don't already support him.

Thoughts?
You'd better believe I'm a bitter Bernie Sanders supporter. The Dems fucked up and fucked up hard. Hopefully they'll learn that neoliberalism and maintaining the status quo isn't the way to win this election or any other one. I doubt they will, though.

I mean it's great that you can be sarcastic and rhetorical but my statement is true. No GOP Senate candidate in that election cycle was winning anyway.

My first question for the next GOP debate: "You have all stated that the repeal of Obamacare would be either your first task as President, or one of your first tasks in that role. What, if anything, would you replace it with, and please know that if any of you say 'Tax incentives', I will leap across this desk, lean across the podium, and smack the living shit out of you. You don't have Secret Service protection yet, so don't pretend that this won't happen. You first, Governor Bush."

An odd choice by Jeb but you could see how that might happen standing there surrounded by Reagan memorabilia. "Think of a woman, think of a woman quick! ... what would Reagan do!?"

To be fair, he would have suggested his mother, but remembered at the last minute that she's already on the one dollar bill.

And that was my cheap shot of the week.

None of them, really. Times have changed. Kasich comes somewhat close, as does Jeb. The rest of the actual politicians are far to his right.

Why settle for "close"? Just nominate Ronald Reagan and be done with it :p

I take it back.

There was an even more amusing moment in the undercard debate, when Rick Santorum pulled the following out of his arse:

“If you poll Iranians and Iraqis, Shias in the region, more than two-thirds of them believe that the end of the world will come in their lifetime. Why? Because their regime preaches it. They believe in bringing about the end of times."

Leaving aside the fact that Santorum is misrepresenting the Pew Research centre data that is apparently underlying this claim, and appreciating that Santorum is a Catholic rather than an Evangelical Protestant, I wonder if I was alone in noting that Islam teaches that the Second Coming of Jesus will precipitate the end of times.

Can anyone else think of a religion that teaches that the Second Coming of Jesus will precipitate the end of times? Or a political party that's strongly supported by a large group of people who think that the latter might be imminent?

The irony; it burns.

No, of course not. Rand Paul tries to talk a libertarian game, but he doesn't seem to understand that there's more to it than "Back off on the drug war" and "Let's not intervene as much internationally". As far as anarchism goes, I can see any of them inspiring a revolt by people thinking that no government is better than their government, but that's not the same thing.

Debate questions are meant to be provocative as well as informative. These are people who are hoping to take on what is, in many ways, the most powerful position in the world. If they can't handle dealing with a loaded question effectively, then they don't have any place on that stage.

While enjoying the entertainment from Trump, I admit I fucking love trash TV. It appears that some of the candidates made some good points on some issues. I believe that both sides of the foreign policy was argued very well, and this is speaking as someone who is a PaleoConservative on this issue big time. I was glad to hear very little about LGBT rights, however they did have to play to the religious crowd on abortion. But all in all, it was not that bad of the debate.
About me: I have a strong dislike of religion and the current social justice narrative. Used to be a SSPX-like Catholic, but not anymore. And no, my nation does not represent my real views...most of the time.
Why I'm no longer a Socialist.
My pronouns: That asshole from /pol/, bigot, misogynist, transphobe, racist
And no, my flag is NOT used for RPing :)
Finally, fuck your trigger warnings.
