No, people don't like it when you make thought-experiments purposefully vague so you can try to humiliate the people that disagree with you, and then shove your "honour before death" ethics down their throats.

IE, in the former you're a dead man. In the latter there's a good chance chance you'll live to fight another day.

How did you come to the conclusion about the second part?

How are you so certain that the dictatorship will let you fight another day as opposed to doing the predictable thing of maximising its own benefit and security at your expense (sending you to die in a suicide battalion after maximising the political gains he can get from you from kneeling)?

Sending us in "suicide" battalions gives greater chance of escape. That is, assuming they put us in a penal battalion instead of a permanent division, which is equally likely.

BTW, if this is a scenario where we couldn't overthrow the dictator the first time, then the people generally don't care enough to try again if you play martyr.

So explain how on one hand we're omniscient and know that we'll be killed if we don't kneel, but yet at the same time we don't know if the dictator will keep his word or not?

Either we know the outcome of both options, or we know the outcome of neither option. Otherwise, it's invalid.
