So I have exhausted the churches in my community (Which was a lot indeed, I found out) and I don't even know how I feel. I really tried to go into this journey without clinging on to previous notions but that was difficult. In my study of the Trinity I realized that the Bible I always used is simply not the same as the ones of those teaching me and that not all of theirs agreed with each others either. Certain churches seemed untrustworthy, others were too theologically liberal, and and some seemed barren with dwindling membership and disinterested priests and the looming, unavoidable Orthodox Church seems to be filled with hypocrites and made up of people who almost never even bother to go on Sunday's. I don't know what to do, with so many different Christian groups I feel like I'm losing a sense of believing in Christian legitimacy. I'm starting to feel like Jehovahs Witness theology is more compatible with Islam then other Christian groups.

Unfortunately, the churches that happen to be located in a given area (such as, for example, the one where you live) are not always the best representatives of their respective denominations or traditions. So yes, some of them might have lots of nominal members who don't attend most services, or any one of the other problems you listed. But you should pick a church based on what it teaches (or based on the official doctrines it adheres to, in the case of denominations that have official doctrines, such as the Orthodox or the Roman Catholic), and based on its ties to the ancient, original Church - not based on the kinds of people who happen to make up the local community in your area.

Sure, it would be excellent if you found a church where the people are great, too... but if you can't find a church like that, look for the other things instead. They're more important, anyway.

I would assume he recommends it because he thinks it's the only one you haven't tried yet. After all, it is by far the smallest of the ancient Churches, and therefore the least likely to have a nearby parish.

So I'm actually quite amazed that they have a parish not far from you. You must live in an extremely diverse area.

Guys, since you look like a very friendly and helpful bunch, I wanted to talk with you about my recent dwindling faith. I am not sure if it's just my age, or if it will be a persisting issue, but I am no longer feeling spiritual at all.

You know when people get some peace and quiet and they start to think that there must be more to the world, that there is a "life force" to all things? Whenever I have time to meditate it feels to me that everything really is lifeless matter and I'm just a bunch of self-decomposing cells. I've also become more wrathful and an overall more sinful person. Will these feelings stop once my hormones calm down, as it's just a normal psychological reaction? Am I depressed and don't know it?

2. Don't try and force faith. If you insist on having faith, have a good reason to have it. Blind faith helps no one.

I've been going through a bit of this myself, and I'm about a decade older than you.

What has helped me most is talking to friends who I know are strong in their faith, and have discussions. Talk through your problems.

You should be going to Mass every week, if possible.

If you're Catholic, then Pray the Rosary, regardless of whether or not its a thing with Eastern Catholics.

Employ the Jesus Prayer as constantly as you can.

Religion is not the only source of spirituality. There are plenty of opportunities to discover more outside the walls of a church.
