Oh that's right, mountainous Iran is going to be a complete cakewalk especially without nuclear capabilities.

Exactly not what I ever said or implied, sir.

Other than by stating that Vietnam was an outlier compared to every other non-nuclear military conflict the United States has ever been involved in.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.
Where is your God-Emperor now?

But that doesn't mean to suggest the other US wars were in any way easy. Merely less comparable with Vietnam.
I used to run an alliance, and a region. Not that it matters now.

Also, I don't support a war with Iran without.

For starters, we don't have a clear end result (bar there being no centrifuges - which is a rather limited goal) or any real plan to achieve it. The political will isn't there.

And then there is the actual business of conducting a conflict against a resourceful and powerful enemy with a large, motivated fighting force, with experienced units and a heavy abundance of good missiles across difficult terrain. It isn't really feasible without a titanic effort, and the ability to accept considerable loss of blood and treasure.

And honestly, I also have some cautious optimism about the deal.

Well, it was.

Leave comparisons to Vietnam for either Round 2, or for the media to bash together.
Just like the Gulf War is an outlier. Which makes me sad when actual warhawks think it's comparable and relevant to a war in Iran.

I'd just like to second that point.

George H W Bush was perfectly right that to point out how much more difficult and costly entering Iraq would have been then (as opposed to the success of a war with strict and narrow objectives that were eminently achievable); something that the Iraq proved. And in turn Iran now is leagues more powerful than Iraq at that point.

Defeating an invasion by inferior forces on desert terrain is much much easier than invading a very large and powerful state.

Probably not the best idea, but definitely the most fun one.

Not for them of course (unless the 72 virgin story is true). Not for the boots of the ground either, that's why they're used so sparingly these days. But for the ship crews that get to empty their VLS? The pilots that get to score some real kills? And, of course, all the rest who get to watch it in front of a TV with a gallon jug of beer?
