The founded date under the avatar will always be the date your nation was founded/not the forum account. If you look at the profile, it has a joined forum date as well that can be different. The disconnect was present on the old Jolt forums which confused the two.

My nation is a good example. Founded: Antiquity; Joined forum: April 30, 2009: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=303
