I have no job, so their is no need for work shoes. I had a pair of hiking boots that I used for my occasional handyman work when I needed quick cash.

I am bored and feeling a bit down... My roommate moved out and the house feels weirdly quiet and empty, and there's this awkward tension because we had been sort of romantically involved. I think he still wants me, but it is not going to work... He only gave us 4 or 5 days notice that he was moving out and he refused to contribute to the March rent. My other roommates that are still here have no savings, so I had to cover for everybody to make rent. The broke roommates that are still here are supposed to pay me back for part of the money, but it's not $400 that is the difference between wanting someone or not. It's the way he talked to us about the whole thing. Money can't fix that.

He got into some housing program that he had applied for a long time ago and was on a waiting list for a few years, and they said if he didn't take the apartment they were offering right away then he'd have to go back to the bottom of the waiting list -- so he says he had no choice about moving. But it's not like they kidnapped him and dragged him away to this apartment on the other side of town.

Exactly. We are planning to stay in touch, but losing the prospect of being more than friends is sad, and the uncertainty of not knowing who I will get for a new roommate is kind of throwing me out of my groove. He is an interesting guy, but we just don't have a future together because I need a safe space where he can't push me around. He doesn't respect me enough to just not push me around in the first place. Like when we talk, he usually does more of the talking than I do. I never did manage to tell him I am a secessionist.

I only have two pairs that I wear regularly (sneakers and work boots), and 4 others that I wear occasionally (snow boots, leather boots, sandals, and other sneakers), and a few that I just haven't bothered to throw out even though I never wear them.

I am not a fashionista, though.
