Russia is too busy planning their invasion of Baltic States to worry about the Arctic States..

If I were them, I'd focus on the Arctic. It's a lot more valuable than the Baltic.

Good, Denmark is a good nation to have the oil. A partner the West can trust (although I'd be happy with Norway or Canada getting it).

did such things ever stop Putin or any of his predecessors? far as I remember, No.

Well, Russia tried to suppress Eastern European revolts while at the same time invading Afghanistan.. doubt they would want a war on two fronts again.. and fail again.

But getting the Baltic would distract the Russian people from their economy going to shit much more than the Arctic. The most valuable thing to Putin is his power.

At these prices, oil is becoming more and more expensive to produce.

Also true, but Statoil is also acquiring oil and gas concessions globally (in the American Marcellus Shale, for example) and widening their market, so I don't think a secular decline in prices necessarily dooms them. Of course, I'm no economist.

Nah, the North Pole should be brought under the direct control of the European Union. That way we can finally arrest Santa for his violations of EU law.

Honestly, let them have it. I really couldn't care less who owns the North Pole. After all, we know it belongs to Santa.

The Danish Crown does. Not Denmark.
Although, with the current pro-independence stance of the Greenlanders, things could change. One has to remember, though, that Greenland is heavily dependent on the influx of money Copenhagen pumps every year in their coffers.

Seriously, have you failed to notice the amount of drilling the Russians have been doing in the Artic in the last 15ish years?

Do you think that, having such oilfields right off their shore to exploit, they would rather go for a war with NATO over some rather meaningless countries?

It's a joke :p based off of Sweden's reports of Russian jets and subs in the Baltic Sea

Here is the twist, there are no Baltic countries. It was all an elaborate ruse to distract the Americans from their nefarious schemes in the artic!

Alaska is not autonomous. It's not even a client state... it's part of the United States.
