Utterly baffling and a deep outrage to Canada. This proud and majestic country, it seems, is the latest bastion of peace, justice and freedom to suffer at the hands of extremists. Awful, awful news.

My thoughts and prayers to the family of those affected. May this glorious nation not be daunted nor deterred from its righteous course by those cavemen who would readily undo all that has been hard won by generations of Canadians.

God bless Canada! God bless those in the line of fire!

Since I'm the one who asked for it:

That's the entire discussion up to my request. Alyakia called it: some random list, and some random guy might be on it. Whoop-de-doo.

What is your point here exactly? You asked for a source. I gave you a source.

Also they had the name of the terrorist from Monday on the list of 90 and they are already saying that this shooter today was a high risk person who had his passport revoked and was on the list as well.

Random list, random guy right

Shooter's photo has been tweeted by an ISIS account apparently. He had also had his passport recently seized after being deemed a high risk traveller.

Anyways, that was utterly chaotic.

And the gunman's status as a recent convert to Islam supports my hypothesis that newly converted Muslims will be by and large easier to be manipulated into extremism and more easier to coax into acts of violence like this.

Such is the disenfranchised individual in desperation, only to be misguided by those who twist a faith.

This will most likely start the US government into much better securing the border with Canada just like they have done with Mexico.

You're joking, right? :eyebrow:

We're not infested with drug cartels or suicide bombers (unlike Mexico, vamos los putos). This has only occurred recently and I'm sure that if the US were to do that, then Canada would've secured their borders a long time ago because of Ebola.

A note of remembrance for poor Patrice Vincent, who was also murdered this week. By a car driving terrorist, no less. He was 53 years old.

We have been at war for 13 years in that "war on terror" crap. It shouldn't come as a surprise that we get hit after all that time. It just gives more ammunition to the Harperites who wish to increase police control and surveillance program.

According to CBC, there was going to be an attack on the White House but it was thwarted before it could even start.

He didn't escape. He was shot dead by Parliament's ceremonial guardsman after he broke in.

I'm just waiting for footage of Canadian soldiers water boarding ISIS members with maple syrup.

There is a second suspect which did escape.

He's not a ceremonial guardsman. He's the chief of the parliament security. The guy spent 29 years in the RCMP. He knows how to handle a gun and protect his personels.

That's pretty upsetting.

I was in Ottawa two months ago, and visited parliament and the war memorial. It's such a peaceful city - can't imagine this happening there.

What happened today in our nations capital was a horrible act.

As a canadian, I thank everyone for their support.

I would like to offer my condolences to the family and loved ones of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo.

He died protecting our nation and for that his name will live on.

I think our neighbors to the North should be proud of their Parliamentary Security Forces for stopping the gunman before he could cause further chaos or loss of life.

Also I give my condolences to the young serviceman who was gunned down by a coward. It's always a moment of sadness and reflection when one of your own goes down in battle in lands far from home, but it's an absolute tragedy when a young serviceman is killed without having been a able to stand his ground and face the enemy.

I do hope the Canadians retaliate against those who're not man enough to stand and fight, but instead must rely on the tactics of the weak and cowardly.

By the fact that their personnel stood their ground and fought off and killed the attacker shows their firm resolve to not flag or fail, and to go on to the end, and in this grave hour we should stand united with our ally and help them to move past this dastardly and evil act.

Their shitty reactions on previous shootings, some of which don't even take place in Canada.
What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!
