Yeah. Trying to present yourself as the 'family friendly' format usually means you're going to lose the race from the adult entertainment compatible alternative. It's also one of the reasons why the cd-rom became the standard instead of the cd-i. Your technology simply is not going to win the battle for the hearts and minds of the consumers if it cannot play porn.

Yup. Sony certainly don't have much joy with their proprietary media formats. They only lucked out with the Playstation because things went sour between them and Nintendo. It's also why Apple as a company is slowly doomed to failure. The Android market is open to everyone. You try to exert control, and you harm your own products.

Even though Betamax was actually the better technology..whoops.

I think that had more to do with the technology licensing, Sony really tried to keep the manufacturering to itself, I don't remember who came up with vhs, but they made it easy and cheap to get into the market.

iTunes, iPhone, iPad, apples penetration into the corporate market is better than ever.

The main reason Apple still works is because it's a brand for people who like to pay more for a product that may be more limited in its use, but at least it has a prestigious little apple imprinted on every device. It's pretty much a vanity product for people who don't take the time to see what alternatives are available.

Eh, I'm not so sure. Since Jobs' departure, the company has lost something. Apple products are a style purchase. They're certainly not innovative. Not anymore. It's thinner, it's faster, it's sleeker..but it's the same. Apple products look good. Can't say much else about them, really.

This video says it all, really.

Look at Blackberry. They didn't innovate, and they're nearly in the dust. Nokia? Used to lead the mobile market. Didn't innovate. They got a second chance with Microsoft, but they could have gone the same way. The iPhone and iPad were innovative in style and design. Past tense. They're just a style purchase, now. There's no technological reason to choose an iPhone/iPad over other brands. Retina display was cool, but we've already moved beyond that now.
