On a given day several different people see a strange formation of lights in the sky, and of those several walk away claiming to have seen an alien space craft. They say that since several people saw it, and independently verified it, it must be accurate; and point to this as proof of alien visitation.
But it isn't proof of alien visitation. All any of them really saw was a strange formation of lights in the sky.
