Theresa May, the Home Secretary, will lay out plans to allow judges to ban people from broadcasting or protesting in certain places, as well as associating with specific people.

The plans — to be brought in if the Conservatives win the election in May — are part of a wide-ranging set of rules to strengthen the Government’s counter-terrorism strategy.

First off, I'm an American. I do not claim to be an expert on British politics, but quite frankly, this is appalling. 'Extremists' can be literally anyone as defined by a shadowy government authority, operating with no external oversight. I think it will very quickly devolve into mass censorship of dissenting opinion - precisely the thing that makes liberal democracies work. What say you, NSG?

It seems extraordinary to me to say that a person is literally so dangerous that they can't be allowed to use twitter or speak in public, but that they still ought to be able to walk around freely among the public.

Surely if someone is so dangerous that their mere words could cause terrible disruption to society, well God only knows what they could do with a sufficiently-hard stick, or perhaps even a knife! That person should probably just be isolated from society entirely in some kind of prison.

As much as I very much despise hate speech and would like to see it killed thoroughly, as someone that also supports the idea of dismantling democracy and replacing it with more of a monarchist system, this whole idea frankly frightens me. I mean, with this in mind, could I even run a monarchist party at this point? And there's nothing remotely wrong with my ideals, nothing more so than there is with democracy at the very least. This seems far too vague for my liking, though given the context that this is in reference to the terrorism occurring in the world right now (particularly with ISIS) I'm going to give Cameron the benefit of the doubt here and hope he sticks this to terrorists and only terrorists. And for those Americans worried about some NWO type conspiracy to "silence the people", a lot of these extremists in ISIS are coming from the UK, so Cameron kind of has reason to be trying to attack them with stuff like this.

As far as i'm aware, the BNP doesn't active kill members of the demographic they troll.
