A hockey fight is considerably less deadly than the two examples you gave. You also haven't addressed the valid point that me and a number of other people have pointed out: fighting in hockey is slowly being phased out.

The violence and toughness of Hockey is a major selling point of the game, and it's what sets it apart from other sports. Banning fighting wouldn't help, and people will get injured anyway. A lot more players get injured because of boarding and checking than in fighting. What are you gonna do? Ban contact completely?
