By the way, i think that the Roman empire was the greatest, for the civilization it created. It also lasted more than 2 millenia (from 753 BC until 1453 AD)

Your leader has nothing to do with it. THe Romans had a president.
The Greeks had a president.

The Romans had two consuls -and later- an emperor. The Alexandrian Empire had a king.

America stopped being 'an empire' ca. 1945, when they abandoned the Philippines.

Texas isn't an imperial territory.

Calling Guam and Puerto Rico the basis of 'an empire' is like saying the British Empire still exists today because of the Falklands and Gibraltar.

The thing is, there never was an "Arab" empire. You have your various Caliphates, from Rashidun to the Abbasids. It's like saying the Persian Empire was the best empire. You have to specify whether you are referring to the Achaemenids, the Sassanids, the Parthians, the Saffarids, etc.

Rashidun Caliphate of course.

Influence wise I would say the Roman Empire.

When it comes to size, definitely the British Empire.

I'd say the Portuguese Empire wins when it comes to how long it's survived but only by the skin of it's teeth given how many times they had to reinstate it.

How is Spain a candidate for greatness? Yes, there’s territory but was it culturally, scientifically or societally great?

Not to mention the fact that the Spanish influenced Native American cultures, transformed how they traveled/hunted/waged war with the introduction of horses, and proved to be a dominating power globally for a significant amount of time.

If it failed, I wouldn't consider it influence.

The extensive use of English globally could probably be attributed for a large part to the rise of the United States as an international economic superpower in the 1900s.

roman empire, I would say one of the most fashist empires ever existed. They did genocide, they surpressed like almost anyone, they had slavery and for fun they forced people to kill each other...Last but not least they adopted one of the worst religions ever and killed (again) thousands of people. (And teh opression of women and mass rapes.)

The worst thing ever happend to this world was the roman empire.

The German and Austro-Hungarian empires were both failures and miniature along with short lived compared to nearly everyone else on that list, so I'd suggest they be switched.

I voted Mongols. Because without them, there would be no exceptions.

Not really, I mean if you look at Spain dying the height of the inquisition, or 1600s Britain in Africa and Asia you'll see a lot of the same things. For the time period the Romans did what pretty much every other significant empire was doing.
