True enough, but even more for protection against broken glass from the windows being blown in.

Or the walls.
A 1.3psi blast front could bring down the exterior facade of a concrete-walled building.
The overpressure of a 1Mt nuclear airburst at optimum height drops to 1psi at a distance of 9 miles from the hypocentre, 37 seconds after the initial blast.

Hasn't existed effectively since the late 1800s. One could make the case that, during the Civil War, there was no free speech (Union and Confederates arrested anti-war advocates), but I'll give that one up and say that, because the country was in the midst of war.

Nowadays, it's just becoming more obvious.

Well, I didn't really find more on the story since all the other stories are just reporting on the OP's source.

Some report this old story where he mentored a 14 year kid to self publish a book.

My last thought would be did he write the book from a 'pro-shootin' up the school' perspective, but reading the summaries on Amazon that doesn't really seem to be the case, the shooter is the 'bad guy', even if he has a 'cause.' I mean, maybe he should be fired for setting the drama in Krossephire Tech...seriously? But aside from that slice of cheese...I didn't get anything extra that would justify the level of reaction. This seems like a rare case where the page 3 rule has let me down.

to be perfectly fair, we don't know what was in the stories as its only described vaguely.

For all we know, it could have been a first-person account from the perspective of the shooters relishing every single kill from start to finish with huge parallels to the Dorchester school directly...

Would it matter either way what the book is about? He could have written a cult's holy book. It doesn't justify any of this.

Eh, school massacres have always been a sensitive topic. Hell, you can't even mention one in a public place without people shitting their pants.

The teacher seems innocent enough. Just looks like people overreacting to me.

Sounds like a conflict of interest. Educating students require teachers to have some idea of common sense. Good proof that teachers are generally pretty stupid.

What kind of moron thinks it would be a good idea to write a novel about a fictional school shooting while currently holding a teaching position for children? Then again art teachers aren't renowned for common sense. Two of my high school art teachers were arrested. One for selling pot. The other for seducing a student. Art & loose morals go hand in hand. If you want your kids to learn that way knock yourself out.

The fact people are taking the teachers side over the parents is interesting. Evidently parents don't have rights with regard to their children though they are legally obligated to them until the child reaches the age of 18.

How many of you have used aliases and why? Try answering that one.

They are not first person accounts, they primary protagonists are a few students who launch an amateur investigation into incidents at their school, and a law enforcement agent who is tasked in the investigation starting with the incident in the first school.

This would be akin to investigating Tom Clancy for communist ties because he had some soviets in his stories. It's fucking absurd.

Of course, as I said, I doubt people really read the story... people rarely do. It's generally why on my wife's schools forms for launching complaint incidents on novels asks the person on line 1, have you read the the story in its entirety.... if the answer is no. The form is circular filed and the person is told to go read it in full, and then they can come back and refile if they still want to.

Authors frequently use pseudonyms, also called "pen names".... Stephen King wrote under Richard Bachmann for a period, Mark Twain was Samuel Clemmens' Pseudonym, C.S Foster was the pen name of Cecil Smith, Anne Rice was the pseudonym of Howard Allen Frances O'Brien, Ayn Rand was actually Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum.... if you like I can go on. Pen names/Pseudonyms are actually quite common in the writing world.

I take the teachers side because I actually have an informed opinion on this based on actual facts.

What was the exact plot of the story beside "there was a mass shooting", because writing about a bunch of kids stranded in an island and turning to barbarism and savagry and killing each other doesn't mean that the author would like to have kids shipwrecked.

It is about a bunch of kids investigating a school shooting, got it...and this would pose a threat because he might turn a few kids into amateur sleuths?

I will not have my children exposed to the likes of Encyclopedia Brown! At first it starts off innocuously enough, solving crimes like the theft of money from a lemonade stand, or exposing cheaters at school. After a while, though, you find yourself in a van with your fellow mystery fiends, traveling through the nation, checking out haunted amusement parks and abandoned mansions, having graduated to outright meddling.
