I object to state sanctioned murder on the fact not only is it immoral, it is imperfect (executing people wrongfully convicted), and it is archaic barbarism.

Nothing like wait 15 years on death row spending much of it mentally rotting away to the point where mental illness becomes such a massive issue it is often swept under the rug. I mean there going to die anyway so why not treat them like shit too?

It's only expensive because of the legal measures associated with executing people. Statistics say it probably doesn't deter crime, but it's not even about deterrence, or punishment. It's just that there's no reason to keep people who are dangers to society and beyond rehabilitation alive.

@OP, there are probably cheaper methods then firing squads, but I'm not that much of a penny-pincher. It's a valid method, I guess.

Id prefer a bullet to the head rather than an experimental drug or an electrocution.
So firing squads are probably one of the best options.
