I trim because of my experiences with shaving but I also feel cleaner after trimming my body hair.

It also lets me sport really nice and fit shirts without all the hair sticking out of it.

I don't really have an issue with men and body hair. As long as they trim their facial hair/shave, some body hair is acceptable.

I knew you guys would throw out red herrings on me.

Truth is it is healthier to be completely shaven, even if only marginally so.

I simply don't like hair, but I feel the aesthetic value tends to outweigh shaving my head. My legs and underarm hair are something I would prefer to never have to deal with, but I do take two showers a day, so it isn't too large on an issue. Anyway get back to your misogynistic conversation on why women should shave and men shouldn't.

I'd say no, not particularly :p

I trim and shave when I can, but that's me and the fact I like to feel clean (and psoriasis, always the fucking psoriasis. It's why I clean shave my facial hair).

I personally think that people have a right to choose whether or not they shave their body hair. I mean, I think it looks bad on everyone (intentional beards/staches excluded), male or female, and would prefer it if everyone did so, but I'm not a dick about it. I personally find thick pit/pubic/etc. hair to not look good at all, and to be a major turn-off in general, but to each their own. I personally would shave off all my leg, pubic, chest, and other hair off, but I'm too much of a lazy bastard to do that regularly. If I could use laser hair surgery or something to permanently remove the hair, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but that's expensive for me. Luckily, I'm a guy so my laziness isn't AS reviled by people.

I personally shave and trim because of my skin condition. But I know personally that if a woman wants to just trim and keeps her body hair under control I am perfectly okay with it, even if it's not shaven. Although I prefer shaved I don't particularly mind a really short trim.

Actually having hair in those areas (barring conditions like mine where having it EXACERBATES the issue and makes it harder to control my condition) is healthier.

I think it's up to the individual to shave or not. I'm not much for shaving myself and would probably let my beard grow if it didn't have an unsightly bald patch. As a result, I only shave my neck as the bald spot makes me self-conscious.

Have you taken into account the possible health effects of the chemicals in shaving cream (or any other shaving products you might use), the fact that people sometimes cut themselves while shaving or get razor burn, and the risk of infection if you do cut yourself while shaving?

Those of us who are over 40 (ahem) seem to be less obsessed with the whole shaving and/or manscaping your map of Tasmania thing than the younger demographic.

Whether that's specifically tied into expectations brought about by the greater accessibility of internet pornography now than when I was a lad (as is apparently sometimes suggested), I couldn't honestly say; but there does very much appear to be a generational divide here over expectations.

But for some reason the younger generation is more open to guys with long hair... People are weird.

I sport medium-length hair most of the time.

Tried to go long-haired once, didn't work as I expected. Too much work keeping my curls healthy...

Yeah, I have long hair and it really is more work. You need to use conditioner, not just shampoo, and it's a pain to keep it from getting tangled.

I tend to use both anyhow. But the entanglement didn't happen so much for me since my hair is all frizzy when dry (damn curls, I sweat to God I love my curly hair but it is too much work with curly hair to maintain it).
