If anyone's going to be hard on adulterers, it should be the spouse, not society.

You really can't expect a spouse to stone his/her wife/husband to death all by him/herself, can you?

OP, whatever your opinion on the issue cheating is not a universal human "right".

I haven't noticed society being hard on cheaters at all. sometimes the subsequent divorce (if there is one) can be brutal but that is between the couple not society at large.

This. Of you want to have sex outside of marriage your spouse should know beforehand and should be aware that it is happening. Cheating on them behind their back or when you agreed to be monogomous makes you a lying asshole. There is zero need to marry in today's society, if you don't want to have sex with one person for the rest of their life than don't get married or make sure they know that you fully intend to have sex outside of marriage.

No, that's not it. I live in Iraq, we have a pretty chill policy here. Well, for men. What I mean is the social shaming of an adulterer, and that such things should remain private matters.

No, if two people promise to be loyal to each other, then they better stay loyal or break the agreement and divorce.

No OP; lying and deceiving someone with whom you've vowed to love and cherish is wrong. Yes, everyone has desires, but acting on those desires is dishonest. Take your SJW bullshit elsewhere.

What do those two statements have to do with each other? Not to mention you've just broken one of the unspoken rules...

If you don't want to be tied to one person, don't marry them. If you marry someone and then cheat, you are a liar. You are not trustworthy. You are not fit or worthy of it. The idea that your selfish desires supersede the vows you made simply because you apparently have the self-control of a dog is silly.

Yes.

But if someone no longer feels for their partner, they should opt for a divorce instead of sneakily sleeping around. It hurts both parties involved when their actions are exposed.

I think that this sort of thing is absolutely a private affair, and I think it's crass for people to get into affairs that have nothing to do with them. In a lot of cases, the partner who was cheated on is highly pissed-off already, and having everyone on the block chattering about it just compounds that person's humiliation. Give people privacy during these difficult times.
