Indeed, it is. I've had a teacher violate my civil rights and all she got was five days of paid leave.

The teachers have had it drilled into them that anything that looks suspicious is to be reported. Would you want to try explaining to the news media that you thought the kid who shot up his school just wanted to go hunting?

Given that he's 16 I dare say it would be illegal for him to buy a gun for any reason.

Hey, is it just me or does it seem like most of these things where a student gets in trouble for something to do with guns mostly happen in southern states?

Or he bought one illegally in order to commit a crime.

Probably also illegal, in the same way that it is illegal to buy alcohol or cigarettes for minors. Not that it matters. If the school and thus the police think he has a gun at school then it doesn't matter why, they're going to search him and his stuff for it.

By that I meant his parents still technically "own" the firearm, while he "borrows" it from his parents.

Teacher massively overreacts to an assignment that she gave? No problem. Shows you a film? FIRE HER! Sounds perfectly reasonable :lol2:

The Gun-Free Schools Act of 1994 requires schools to expel students who bring weapons to school if they want to keep their federal funding. The schools, in their zeal to meet this requirement, enacted these zero-tolerance rules. It's easy to blame the teachers but they're just doing their jobs. Blame the school boards, the administration, Joe Biden and Bill Clinton.

Where did I say I blamed the teachers?

I said it was a waste of time. It was a joke, there wasn't a gun, there wasn't a dinosaur. The kids teacher should've atleast called the kids mom first.

So this was not because of him writing a story but because he was suspected of being in the possession of a firearm at school?

This is as funny as the time a teacher came to school the first day drunk and gave a lap dance to a 10-year old.
So you decide to open it anyway? What the heck, man?
