People in Vermont hate wind turbines?

Actually, that seems to be a common problem. We had a kerfuffle because some people wanted to build a wind farm off the coast of Cape Cod and the local millionaires complained that it would ruin the view from their seaside mansions.

It seems that way, recently they built around 20 of them on a mountain ridgeline and everyone was getting all worked up about them, how ugly they were, destroying trees and whatnot. It was quite ridiculous to listen to, especially that trees part, 100 years ago almost the entirety of the state was treeless and now it is once again a wooden wonderland. And what you said about the millionaires is also true in my home town the rich people who owned mansions here don't like seeing our attempts at wind turbines and solar panels in our "quaint little New England town."

Well, if they want to be really quaint, then maybe they don't need electricity.

Yeah, that's why wind power's less of a controversy in the West. I remember visiting the East Coast for the first time in 2011; I was shocked at how many cities we passed by on the highway from NY to DC. Over here, it's mostly open fields, deserts, or mountains outside of the main metro areas.

It keeps going like that north of NY. The cities look a bit different, but it's just as densely settled.

I am pretty sure it is true, and it is not wise to disagree with people from Massachusetts because we are very good at getting everyone who disagrees with us branded bigots, hicks, etc. I'm actually not sure WHY Massachusetts is so good at convincing everyone that the people who disagree with us are bigots and hicks, but we really are good at it.
