Opiates are highly addictive and the body rapidly builds a tolerance towards them, which limits their effective use to those patients that are in large amounts of pain. Marijuana, on the other hand, is much less addictive and, while a tolerance is still built over time, is less likely to result in lethal side effects and drug interactions. Cigarettes cause cancer, Marijuana doesn't inherently do so.

Opiates and alcohol are the only drugs you can die from detoxing from. Marijuana- you aren't shaking and devoid of important vitamins the day after, your body is not dependent on TCH. You may be tired, you may be hungry... but you're never putting yourself in physical danger after having quit smoking marijuana.
And yet alcohol is legal almost everywhere in the world, and opiates are available and profitable everywhere you go.

As far as I know, Opiate withdrawal isn't lethal. Alcohol withdrawal most certainly can be.

we should not encourage young people to try more dangerous and addictive substances.

Sorry- Benzos. I lump them in together, which is not fair... but the same idea apllies that their are two substances that you can die from quitting.

is it a dangerous and addictive recreational drug like marijuana or heroin?
if so, it should be banned unless a doctor prescribes it on a case by case basis to help with certain medical conditions.
in most cases, banned i think.
