The British empire outlawed slavery well before the US civil war started. There's a reason the Underground Railroad terminated in Canada.

The United Kingdom has also done something other than throw a temper tantrum after losing an election and start a war for the "right" to own slaves, which is much more than can be said for the Confederate States of America.

The 1st Minnesota lost 215 men in 5 minutes charging a Confederate brigade that had rolled right through the remnants of the 3rd Corps. Started with 262, against Wilcox's brigade of about 1600.

Not as good as Gettysburg, despite the much larger budget. Didn't seem nearly as cohesive; Gettysburg worked as a single movie despite being originally filmed for a miniseries, but it felt like G&G really would have worked better as a miniseries.
