I agree; the idea behind secularism is good, but usually the implementation is terrible, and just ends up oppressing the religious.

I'm more of a proponent of Symphonia Theory, which states that the church and state are complementary and exhibit mutual respect.

Good, but it seems to take the form of an almost atheist state.

Hardly, a state has to deny the existence of gods and/or God ergo taking a position of non-neutrality. Apatheism is the best choice since they simply do not care.

Not really anything to reveal,... We're already quite aware, but if you need to get it out your system by all means,

Just thought I'd bring this up: Yesterday, I was arguing with 3 atheists in another thread, and all of them claimed that Jesus is not real and that there is no evidence of his existence. Now, I wonder how anyone can come to that conclusion.

I noted on multiple occasions in the CDT III that this topic is best taken to another thread (admitting that one person objected vigorously the last time I did so).

This isn't because the topic isn't germane to Christianity (of course it is) but rather because it's a topic that's regularly discussed as the primary topic in regularly recurring dedicated threads on the topic - any of which you can likely find by use of the forum search function - and tends to completely take over this thread to the detriment of broader discussion. As such, I suggest that you start another of these dedicated threads if you want to discuss this topic in detail.

I stress that I am not attempting to shut down discussion of the topic - only directing it towards a better forum (or rather, a better thread).

For reference, here's a fairly typical example of the topic from 2012 (please don't gravedig it).

I see, I'll take note of that in future.

How is that supposed to function in a society that isn't 100% christian?

Okay, explain how it'd work in an already existing nation.

Just a Roman Catholic checking in.

I'm surprised how many of my brethren are here.

Catholicism is a big tent. A huge variety of opinion can fit inside.

That's true. I'm guess I'm just happy at it's showing.

The more I study ancient Isrealite culture, the more I find Protestantism to be Problematic.

Well, there's no sense arguing that only Protestantism is problematic.

Chalcedonian Christianity is the problem, having been tampered with by secular forces just as Protestantism did.
