Ah right, well I'm Bristol born and bred but in Liverpool now so I've become a part-time Everton fan on the basis that's who most of my mates follow.

Ha. Funny old world.

Try being a Macc Town fan: 13 years on and he's still our record transfer fee received at £300k, by far the most talented player ever to pull on the shirt.

Although the headlines like 'Ex-Macc Town player scores on his debut for England, signs for Liverpool FC' are something straight out of my old Champ Manager games :D

That was a predictable performance from City tonight, bleh. I am getting tired of shouting "Why couldn't they play like that in the first half?" at my telly.

Pellegrini cocking things up again by messing with the formation, I'm not sure why he didn't have Kolarov on the bench considering how many cards Clichy had.

Counter attacking football will always win. Monaco will probably win at home too.

If there's once place I'd like to watch/play football, it would be the Ataturk in Istanbul. Watching Liverpool vs Besiktas now, and when the Turkish fans get going, the noise is unreal.

The Atatürk isn't the regular home stadium of Beşiktaş; by all accounts the atmosphere isn't as good in the Atatürk (an open stadium) compared to their old regular stadium, the Inönü, which is being rebuilt/redeveloped.

Liverpool were way too defensive in the second half. Invited all the pressure onto us. Very good goal and nothing that Mignolet could do, but there's no way Arslan should've even been given the opportunity through us sitting back.

Of every member of our entire squad he is literally the only person I'd back to miss a penalty every single time. Even Danny Ward inspires more confidence.

That really couldn't have gone much worse in the week leading up to Man City.

Well well, Liverpool. My word. What a spectacle.

I normally would not be fussed enough to gloat, but it wasn't long ago my Scouse friend said "See you in Europa". Feel free to blame her for jinxing it.

There's no point in gloating about City, you were just undone by a brilliant striker.

We were undone by Dejan fucking Lovren.

Of course it's always fair to take the piss out of Arsenal.

Danny Ward's pretty good at penalties. Really wish you'd give him a game.

Wonder what this will do for England's coefficient. City against the ropes, Arsenal facing a 2 goal deficit, I suppose both will probably go out. Chelsea v PSG is winnable for Chelsea but will by no means be a walk in the park, Spurs and Liverpool already bounced from Europa League - come the middle of March it could be Everton alone of the English teams still alive.

Also, as a side question: supposing Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, or Wrexham got into Europe would their results be counted toward England's coefficient? I'd imagine so given that they play in English leagues, but I'm not 100% on that.

Swansea are, as they played in Europe recently, and according to the UEFA club coefficient rankings (Swansea are ranked 88th) are association listed under ENG. So I'd assume that the same applies to the others.
England are second in the rankings, 2.7 points ahead of Germany and a full 16 points ahead of Italy in fourth.

I think if he was impressing in training he would have played over Brad Jones in December.

They are now - but by the time this round is done and with a very real possibility that there will only be 1 English club left, I'd imagine the potential for real slippage is there, isn't it?

Tune in to Feyenoord Vs Rome for a very embarassing figure on part of Dutch supporters.

Seriously, what's wrong with that club?

To 3rd? Almost definitely, but down to fourth (where we'd lose a Champions League spot) is still unlikely.

I think it depends on how they qualified. If they qualified via the FA Cup or League Cup (or Premiership) they'd be representing England.

If they reopened the FA Cup for Wales for the exiles then we would probably count towards Wales's score. But given that a few years back either the FA (England) or the FAW cannot remember which, stated if they could only enter one. I forget the exact story it was some years ago, I just remember being disappointed as the winner of the FAW Cup gained £50,000 which is a lot for a club like Wrexham and we used to win it regularly.

The coefficients are calculated over a number of years, so a single season's bad results won't have the drastic impact you're imagining.
