Second signing so far, after Sagna.

Not sure that the signings of an uncapped Brazilian DM and an ageing full back are really going to have the rest of the league quaking in their boots...

Fernando is a Berlin wall with the ability to dig holes in ANY defense, I'm a FC Porto supporter and I can guarantee he's your best signing so far. apart from Mangala, the kid has a bright future. although I'd like him better on Chelsea under Mourinho.

Well, Tottenham won, but it was at the death, so take it for what you will.

Lamela finally scored after all this time. I saw flashes of brilliance with him, Eriksen and Soldado linking up.

It's a good deal, but I wouldn't say "robbed". You've bought a potentially excellent left back and a good back up keeper for £3.5m and a good, established, attacking mid. You'll really have to wait to see how Davies turns out to see how good the deal is...

Don't get me wrong, Spurs have got the best of the deal, IMO, but if Davies doesn't develop as he could, or (hopefully not) is unlucky with injuries, then I don't think you'll be so happy.

In other news (little bit late on this one), Arsenal have announced a new signing. Yep, Abou Diaby is back!

When people talk about Davies I immediately think about Ben Davies of Preston, so I’m always dumbfounded when I here that Davies is traded to Swansea.

I thought we looked impressive offensively in the first half. Once we made all those changes though...not too much.

And I'm dumbfounded when I hear anyone not playing in the MLS is "traded". No one is "traded". A player might move as part of a part-exchange but there's always a fee involved. It's a transfer deal, not a trade. Get the terminology right.

Tbh, it’s still a trade. The dude was not.bought, he’s not a commodity. You traded money for the guy’s skills. That is what it is to me anyways.

For me, anything above Danny Rose has to be an upgrade. Davies showed last season that he can play into Poch's system. He will have to be a lot more brave going forward, but for the time being, the basics-he's already used to one-touch stuff from the Laudrup days, he can actually cross, and he does beautiful overlap with the wingers-he's already got that down.

Abou Diaby has to be the biggest enigma in England. He's got 179 apps in 8 seasons. I think that if he doesn't stay injury free for a few years more, Arsenal should consider donating him to a museum of medical wonders.

For sure. The two Lamela goals all featured three important players for next year, and were both executed almost identically. Eriksen passes to Soldado, while Lamela times his run inside the box. Soldado passes to Lamela and goaaaaaal. It's a bit early, but I'm loving the interchanging three. If someone like Griezmann, Depay or Kono came in, that front three would be a great counterweight to Sanchez-Ozil-Walcott.

Oh yeah, it isn't.

For Davies and Vorm both, I think it's a step up. For Vorm , he'll get a go at the cups and Europa, while Davies will be first choice starter in spite of Danny Rose.

How badly did Swans need an attacking mid? Siggy's not the best at passing and all that, but he packs a monster shot on him. It's a shame that we let him go, considering how badly he wanted to fight for his place.

£3.5 million plus Gilouf Sigjetson is such a Levy type deal. I don't think I'd have any other negotiator in the world in my corner if it could be Levy. We absolutely robbed Swansea.

As a Swans fan, its actually probably a win-win for both sides. For one thing Vorm has been decidedly mediocre and injury prone for about two years. He's not the same player that was so good in that first season.

Secondly, Davies has the potential to be very, very good, but right now he's not at that level. He's still developing and in all honesty Taylor coming back in regularly instead will probably help shore us up defensively, though Davies attacking qualities will be missed.

Siggy meanwhile is exactly the kind of player we need. The chosen one has returned at the perfect time seeing as Michu now has glass legs and has been shipped off to Napoli. So no, we haven't really been robbed, though I would've really liked to have got a better deal for Davies overall.

Do you rate Vorm above Fabianski?

I do yeah. The season before he was outstanding, and although he had a bad season last season I'd have backed him to come back to form with regular football. He seemed to have a few injuries which kept hitting his form. Was only the beginning of last season that Vorm was strongly linked to replacing Valdes at Barca. So unless Swansea don't feel that he can ever get back to his best, it seems foolish to part exchange him and Davies for 3 mill + Sigi.

He's had two mediocre seasons to be honest, not one. I would've liked to have him stay but the fee we are supposedly getting is basically not far below what we would've got for him.

I will miss his ability to be one of the few people in the Swansea team that can actually cross onto the goal magnet that is Wilfried Bony's head. He's definitely better than Danny Rose, no doubt. Though to be honest, I'll say one other thing about Davies; he looked a lot better in his first season than his second. He wasn't bad by any means in his second season, but defensively Taylor would've been a better choice and its proven a wise decision not to cash in on him when he was restless.

I'm a bit down that we've lost Davies and Vorm at the same time really. I don't mind seeing Michu off now, and losing Vorm isn't the end of the world unless Fabianski is suddenly terrible, but I'm sorry to see Davies go while he's still so young.

On the plus side, SUPER SIGGY HAS RETURNED. ALL HAIL THE KING!

You sure it's two? I thought it was the end of the 2013 season he was being linked with Barca and or Liverpool before they signed Mignolet.

Also found this: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... rm-1843799 dated April 2013. However I know he went downhill after his first season which was extremely impressive, but didn't think his dip in 2013 was that huge.

Shame you didn't sell Taylor for a few million. My team Wrexham could of done with the funds.

It was mainly on reputation, and to be honest most of the rumours we get linked with end up being bollocks so its possible the Barca and Liverpool interest was smoke and mirrors. He wasn't bad by any means, just not that great, though he did have one good purple patch in the league before he got injured against City. It was this last season where both him and Tremmel looked quite shaky at times and made a number of mistakes, though to be fair he wasn't helped by some poor defending throughout the season.

I'm sure once Taylor gets a run of games he'll be back to his old self - he's been waiting for his moment. He was brilliant first season, and when he played last season he was defensively more solid than Davies, so hopefully he'll shore us up a bit. However we are lacking depth in defence, particularly at right back because age is catching up with Angel Rangel. He might be a legend but he can't go on forever.

I still can't believe that Frank Lampard is now in New York City FC. It seemed for me that he had been in Chelsea since time immemorial (well, 13 years is certainly a long time; I was less than a month old when Lampard came to Chelsea). Oh well, life goes on. He'll be missed at Stamford Bridge.
