Don't forget France.
Well, even a loss at the hands of Ecuador would probably send them forward to the next round. Maybe just for the humiliation then?

As I haven't given my view on the Suarez incident yet, here it is: He is a dirty player who has now bitten opponents on three occasions, he should be banned for life. There is no place for that kind of nonsense on a football field. He's had his chances and the other incidents (the racism and the constant acts of simulation in particular) haven't done much to make me like him either.

I would also love to see Greece beat Costa Rica, even though after that they will probably fall into the Netherlands or such. Not so hopeful for Greece's national team. But you never know....(see Euro 2004)

I think we can all agree on this about Suarez, love him or hate him: Great footballer, also great mental issues.

Greece expected a miracle from Samaras, though it was George and not Antonis who helped make that miracle come true.

Euro 2004 was one of my all time favourite tournaments. I love seeing an underdog succeed against all odds.
Suarez could be one of the greatest premier league players ever, if he would just take control of himself and stop being such a fool at crisis moments. It just seems like he can't handle pressure at all, which is a major problem in big games.

Colombia vs Uruguay, and Suarez will likely (or at least hopefully) be suspended.

I'm calling it for Colombia.

Is this true?

It looks like it. It's possible it was a head-butt that resulted in his teeth hitting the Italian guy (which I believe still should've translated to direct red). Alternatively, the rolling around clutching his teeth was play acting.

I didn't want to watch this game, I was looking forwards to Costa Rica/England but I know why TVNZ decided to screen it instead. However, having watched Italy/Uruguay, it was not worth it.

Soldati senza confini wrote:The clock ran until 5:55...

Seriously? Muslera was booked for time-wasting, there should have bee some additional stoppage time.

Unluckiest team. England should've drawn all its games but that defence... The lack of luck came up front.

Honestly I see nothing that horrible that would justify him being called a scumbag. At worst I'd say he is overly competitive.

I think the only way you can head-butt an opposing player and not be a scum-bag is when you're Zinedine Zidane. Also. Suarez has form for doing exactly this. Really the Italian guy has a much better case.

Yes. Very easily.

Nigeria vs Argentina better be better. But it won't. Argentina will disappoint but scrape through unharmed. TVNZ is choosing some bloody strange fixtures to screen.

Really hope they don't ban Suarez. That'd be pathetic. He didn't do a dangerous thing like try to snap someone's leg a la Shawcross. All the comments about banning him are so sheeplike. Typical English can't stand that he humiliated them and that they can't play football. Always looking for another scapegoat like Balotelli or Tevez to distract them.

No, what's pathetic is Uruguay and Liverpool fans standing behind one of the dirtiest players in any sport no matter what low he sinks to.

"Suarez bit a guy"

This is football. Not tiddlywinks. There are always disreputable characters. Can't ban them all. Should they have banned Materazzi for winding up Zidane? Should they have banned Simeone for his gamesmanship against Beckham? It's not on, but you can't ban every bit of nastiness in the game. What are you going to do? Ban anyone who uses naughty words on the pitch because it not the type of morality that should be displayed? Just let them sort it out on the pitch. You can always villainise them after to your hearts content anyway.
