I recall the concept of race coming from the Enlightenment really, and it was more a pseudoscience at first but people like Kant and others began taking it at truth value; so we can also sort of blame it on the 17th century this whole racism thing.

Yeah and I think there was an Islamic scholar in the 10th century who also derided black people and said that they were inferior and hence why they were fit to be slaves or something. Can't remember his name though.

Well, yes, but I didn't study History of the Middle East back in college. My focus was mostly European History and U.S. Foreign Relations.
