At least the government has a mandate for national security. It just went overboard. There is a level of surveillance for national security that everyone is comfortable with.

Hell, during my time in the UK Labour frequently denounced pornography as a whole as exploitation and all that, whereas the conservatives had a more moralistic outlook and I would say second to labour's antics on the matter.

So yup, you do not merely have the largest party in the UK against it, but the two largest parties. This law was and is going to become far more spanning, privacy be damned, with a left that sees such automatically as the exploitation of women and a right that occasionally get moralistic on the subject, and will now be emboldened. Think it won't hit the shores of the US? Just wait. As long as it rallies some base be it Christian conservatives or political feminists and can be packaged into some 'protect the children' rhetoric, then it will happen, but I bet that left-leaning parties will take a more aggressive stand towards it in general in a non-source-able claim. The EU will also probably take note.

So if you're thinking of for office, aspects of the government will likely have a nice little access file with your favorite movies and hidden likes. Should make for interesting campaigning material at least.

As for children well studies pretty much show Humans are incredibly interested in sexuality from a very young age [especially when it comes to genitals]. I suggest on all porn sites you include a popup which takes them to a site about sexual education or endure watching 5 minutes of C-SPAN in order to access it.

The Government plans to make anyone aiming to view porn online prove that they are over 18 years of age through new requirements for website owners.

The new laws will see adult website owners forced to block anyone unable to provide proof that they are over the age of 18, in a bid to crack down on children viewing pornographic websites, The Sunday Times has reported.

The system is expected to be similar to one used abroad, with credit card details or official records being provided those visiting pornographic websites in order to gain access. Sites that fail to comply with the measures will be blocked.

A statement from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, said: “We are legislating to put R18 material that can only be sold in licensed sex shops behind access controls on video-on demand services.

“The same protections should apply online as offline and we are clarifying the law to make sure that is the case — we want the legislation to be in place by the end of the year. No decision has been made about offshore sites.”

The proposal would follow Prime Minister David Cameron’s introduction of web filters by internet providers to block access to unsuitable material, and combat online child pornography.
