Let's compare information here.

You have a study which shows that racism is a bigger problem in the south.

You can try to frame it however you want. Doesn't change the fact that you have nothing.

It's his word versus your word, however he has a study to back it up while you don't.

Therefore you're incorrect and in the wrong.

Of course it's a racist symbol. It was the symbol of the Southern aristocracy who chose to push for secession from this country so that they could continue to hold their fellow man in bondage.

The Confederate flag that everyone is familiar with is actually the Tennessee Southern Army Cross but here are the other battle flags.

Incidentally, the designs changed gradually so that it was distinguishable during the heat of battle.

Thank you for providing that information on the off chance that someone might have missed it the several other times that it was presented in this thread.

It's a symbol. Symbols have different meanings to different people.
Racism is a valid interpretation, but it's just childish to throw a fit and say other people aren't interpreting the art the same way you are and that yours is the right one. It's also incredibly stupid.

For the record, when I see the confederate flag, I see a racist symbol.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Really? If he's so uneducated, what did the Union get mad about at the start of the war?

The Union was angered that the Confederate states seceded. Pretty common knowledge, I'm sure a lemur in the Los Angeles Zoo knows that.

How so? You argued that a slave is a slave regardless of what it thinks it is, because it is "legally" referred to as a slave.
So as a slave, your arguments, and anything you say doesn't matter, no matter how much you think it is.

I also see it as symbols, but I don't see it as racist.

And that's fine. I can quite see how southern pride is also an interpretation of the symbol. It's just not how I see it. But i'm not going to go around declaring that there is only one right way to view the symbol.

You're actually not as smart as you think you are, chief. In the 19th century (the beginning half) slaves were black people from Africa and they were property. The laws of the early 19th Century dictate that slaves are not people, they are in fact property. So how the fuck do you fail to understand calling me a slave now is not correct and only serves to make you look dense.

You're arguing that slavery is a just institution as long as it's legal, so if we assume that you're a slave, and therefore don't have any rights, because you're nothing but property, you should be okay with that. You may think that you're a normal poster here on this site, and you can scream and assert your dominance and argue all you want on here, but in actuality whatever the fuck you say doesn't matter, because you're a slave. Know your place around these parts boy, since you obviously don't have a problem with slavery.
